Whenever you begin a new run in The Bazaar, you're faced with three unique start-of-run options that can influence the scope of the game.
Each one offers their own perks, helping to create a fresh experience each time.
In this quick beginner guide, we'll give you some examples of why you may want to choose one option over another.
Start of Run Options
There are currently three different start-of-run options that you can choose between.
Additionally, every Hero begins the run with 8 Gold and 5 Income, before adding in the starting bonuses.
Income Start
Enchanted Start
Skill Start
Income Start
The Income Start is by far the most consistent choice among options. Selecting this will give you a combined 20 Gold and 7 Income right off the bat, with no other immediate variables.
Pros:
More early game spending power. Buy what you want, Reroll if you need to.
Zero additional pre-game RNG. What you see is what you get.
Cons:
No immediate high roll potential.
Less variety between runs.
Enchanted Start
The Enchanted Start is very exciting, but is also equally volatile. Due to the unbalanced nature of enchants, there is a huge range when it comes to power. The items you can encounter include any Small item that begins at Bronze-tier, within that Hero's item pool.
Pros:
Good high roll potential. Some enchanted items can hard carry you early on.
Increases build diversity. You can assemble unique setups that are otherwise impossible without enchants.
Cons:
High volatility, although potentially salvageable via Transform events.
Strictly worse than the other options if you can't utilize the enchanted item at least for a little while.
Skill Start
The Skill Start provides an immediate boost in power, often granting a ton of stats or a unique effect. Unlike the previous choices, you aren't awarded extra Gold, making this the biggest gamble of the bunch. However, you do have a chance to obtain rare monster skills, occasionally leading to some very unique builds.
Pros:
Strongest early game potential. Getting additional Damage/Burn/Poison can give you a huge edge in PvP.
Monster skills can lead to exciting unconventional builds.
Cons:
High volatility. Can often force you in a specific direction in order to benefit.
Early game spending becomes very tight without any additional Gold, and you NEED to find matching items.
After all, The Bazaar is full of several micro-decisions, and not everybody plays the same way.
As a rule of thumb, you'll generally want to adapt your spending habits depending on what you choose. For example, Income Start might encourage you to Reroll more, whereas Skill Start may have you picking more free items from events.
Of course, every decision is still up to you, but as you explore each option you'll learn what makes them worth picking.
