Overview

When you first begin playing The Bazaar you will notice something similar to a Health bar on the left side of the screen.

This meter is known as your Prestige, and is the fundamental system that determines how far you can go during your run.

In this quick beginner guide, we'll break down how it works, along with some tips to keep in mind throughout the game.

How Prestige Works

When playing a run in The Bazaar, the ultimate goal is to reach 10 wins in PvP in order to receive the maximum rewards.

Every time you win a PvP fight, one victory will be added above the clock. But each time you lose, your Prestige will drop.

Players begin the game with 20 Prestige, and the amount you lose depends on the day of the fight. You're essentially "taking damage" equal to whatever day it is.

This means losing PvP fights in the first few days won't lose you much Prestige compared to later days. So early losses don't matter as much then, right? Well, not exactly...

You see, builds in The Bazaar are definitely not created equal. You may initially think that a build that went 10-0 with a flawless victory would be stronger than a build that went 10-5, but this couldn't be further from the truth.

The later the day, the more time they have to scale and acquire more skills or enchants... and the right combination of these can create some insanely busted builds.

Essentially, the later the day, the more RNG plays a role. Remember that you're not the only one who can assemble a crazy build.

Matchmaking pairs you against an opponent from the same day as you, so if the day is late, there's a good chance you'll encounter a ridiculous, nonsensical, uninteractive nightmare build. Good luck!

All that said and half-joking aside, do your best to get as many wins as you can early on. You'll thank yourself later.

One Last Chance

No matter how much Prestige you had at the time, once you reach zero, your run isn't over just yet..

Fate gives you one last chance at redemption.

In fact, reaching zero Prestige can actually give your build a huge boost in power, if you're lucky.

There are three options to choose from.

The right enchant can absolutely break an item in half. An Icy or Heavy enchant on a low Cooldown item could completely lockdown the enemy board.

With this in mind, you should have a better understanding of why late day builds are much scarier, and why it's better we don't wait that long to find out!

Recovering Prestige

Through very rare means, it's actually possible to recover some of your Prestige during a run. Arken's Ring is an item that's occasionally dropped Lord Arken, and selling it will recoup five Prestige.

The Genie Lamp was a rare item that previously could be dropped by the Treasure Turtle or Lord of the Wastes. As of now, the item has been removed from the game, and is unconfirmed when or it it will return.

When the Genie Lamp is sold, it gives you access to a unique event; a Genie that can grant you three wishes.

  • Wish for Wealth: Gain 10 gold.
  • Wish for Fame: Recover 3 Prestige.
  • Wish for Immortality: Gain 5% Max Health.

The obviously exciting one here is the ability to recover your Prestige. Since the Genie grants you three wishes, you can actually select the Prestige recovery up to three times (or mix and match whatever you like).

Fun fact, if you recover your Prestige to 20 and win the run, it'll be considered a "Perfect Victory" on the ending screen despite it not being Day 10.

Tips and Tricks

  • During the early days, always be mindful of your current build. If your items aren't working together, you're going to struggle against players who can piece things together. Filler items can only last so long. If you're in this state, prioritize vendors over events.
  • It's okay to lose. Sometimes you're going to match up against a really strong build or one that counters your build's strategy. So long as you can learn to identify what went wrong, you'll be able to keep going.
  • Consecutive losses generally means the build isn't working. Aside from some really poor matchup RNG, which can occasionally happen, losing multiple times in a row is a good hint that you need to make a change. Either find those crucial pieces if you know what you're missing, or else take the next best opportunity to pivot to something entirely new.
