Overview

While most builds in The Bazaar have their own proactive game plan, there are strategies that exist in a more reactive way.

Instead of simply caring about your own items activating, you actually care about when your opponent's items trigger... because when they move, you hit them right back even harder.

Caltrops is one of, if not the best counter to any builds with a ton of moving pieces, so long as you scale its Damage.

What's a good way to get stronger? With Weights of course!

Core Combos and Synergies

The Powerlifting Combo

This combo is based around one key line of text. "When you heal while at max health, charge this 2 seconds." Weights has been a mainstay in many of Pyg's builds for that very reason. With the right combination of items, it's very easy to create a stable source of both offense and defense.

In most circumstances, the best way to make this happen was to have many fast and repeatable sources of Heal. Vineyard was a key component of this as it previously Charged rapidly and would trigger multiple times. Now it's been changed to scale up its Heal, meaning it can still Heal a lot, but in larger bursts instead of small speedy increments.

This unfortunately doesn't help Weights, as it only cares about each Heal trigger that goes over the top. Thankfully, there's another way that's way more efficient, if you're lucky enough to find it... the Restorative enchant.

Caltrops

Restorative Caltrops is a ridiculous item. Alongside Weights it can create a continous loop, repeatedly Healing and dealing Damage all the while scaling to absurd levels. The more enemy items that trigger the better as they'll be constantly chunking themselves with every move.

This of course does vary, as it depends on the speed of your opponent's board. However, thanks to the defensive nature of the build, it can generally sustain itself and continue to apply pressure even against slower builds.

The main caveat of this build is that it does rely on the Restorative enchant in order to truly shine. It's what allows Caltrops to single-handedly fuel Weights. Thankfully with the guaranteed level 10 enchant, the odds of finding it are pretty good. However, if luck isn't on your side, you can probably still play into a more Heal-centric build to still take advantage of Weights + Caltrops.

Phonograph

Phonograph is the final piece of the puzzle. By placing it to the right of the Weights, it lowers the Cooldown enough to accelerate the endless loop. At Diamond tier this puts the Weights to a 2.5 second Cooldown! That's insanely fast considering every Heal above Max Health Charges it two seconds.

While upgrading Weights definitely improves the scaling rate, the Phonograph should be your priority target. At Gold tier the Cooldown reduction is only 25% compared to the 50% that Diamond provides. This is a much bigger difference than the extra +5 Damage/Heal scaling of Weights, so be sure to choose your upgrades wisely.

Supportive Items and Skills

Uwashiwali Bird

Uwashiwali Bird adds a proactive Heal to an otherwise reactive build. Even with just two Multicast, it's still a reliable source of Heal that has the potential to trigger Weights twice.

While the Restorative Caltrops will do most of the heavy lifting, it's never a bad thing to have extra Heals, especially against the builds that don't have as many moving parts. Without Uwashiwali Bird, it's a lot harder to scale up against slower opponents.

Spices

Spices gives a one-time power spike by effectively doubling the current Damage of Caltrops. An eight second Cooldown can be a long time to wait, but that's actually beneficial. This allows more time for Weights to scale, meaning by the time Spices can trigger, its doubling capabilities will be far more impactful.

Overall, you won't usually need more Damage beyond what Weights + Caltrops already provides. However, it's a nice tech against Max Health or Shield stacking builds to ensure you have enough Damage to punch through.

ATM

ATM simply fills the slot as a Medium-sized Property. Its only real purpose is to give Multicast to Uwashiwali Bird, though it does add a bit of extra defense with its Shield.

As a low Cooldown Shield item, it does open the door for skill support. With the right skills, it has the potential to scale to a respectable amount. Just be aware that skills like Defensive Stance won't work, as Caltrops doesn't actually count itself as being "used".

Staying Power

Staying Power may look rather underwhelming on the surface, but where its true power lies is alongside Weights. Since Weights itself is a Tool, it can proc the skill when used, and that little Heal can trigger the Charge effect (so long as you're at Max Health).

As a skill available as early as Bronze, this is an easy pickup that adds a ton of synergy to the build. The actual Heal amount is irrelevant, only the trigger matters. So there's no need to worry about upgrading it in the future.

Re-Tooled

Re-Tooled is a crazy powerful Diamond skill that gives Multicast to your leftmost Tool. This is the icing on the cake that makes the build absolutely busted. Weights now triggers twice each use, triggering Staying Power twice, which potentially Charges itself twice, and so on and so forth.

The synergy with this build is insane, and definitely a priority Diamond skill to look out for when you reach level 14 (Diamond skill level-up reward).
