Overview

Weapon Mak is a tempo build that can race down its foes and snowball early wins. It punishes slow starts and excels at dealing fast and consistent Damage.

Assembling the early game shell is quite easy, but navigating the mid game can be a challenge, especially if you are behind.

Example Early Game Path

There are two common routes you can take during the early game. One is built around Magic Carpet, while the other focuses on Covetous Raven.

Core Synergies

  • Magic Carpet can reliably become a one-second Cooldown Weapon with enouch Crit support.
    • Combine this with early game Damage skills, plus an upgrade or two, and you've got a fast hard-hitting threat.
    • Letter Opener and Bottled Lightning are the easiest ways to guarantee some initial Crits. Tazidian Dagger can also be used for extra Ammo.
    • Scalpel and Orly can also help on following turns (after scaling Crit).
    • By Transforming Reagents it's very possible to get extras, and they are well worth using early on.
  • Covetous Raven has high base Damage and Charges very quickly with the right setup.
    • Utilize fast Relics like Basilisk Fang and use Catalysts to get low Cooldown Enchanted items (avoid Potions).
    • You can also Transform Medium items (ideally Reagents like Nightshade) to try and get additional Covetous Ravens.
  • Mortar & Pestle provides sustain during the early game, allowing you time to accelerate the Magic Carpet.
    • It's also useful as a Catalyst generator for Covetous Raven (along with Cellar and Aludel).

Tips & Tricks

  • Purchase Reagents and Catalyst items when you can afford it. This build can thrive with duplicate items and really help kickstart your lead.
  • Peacewrought is an excellent source of income for Mak. Upgrade it to Silver-tier ASAP.
    • Feel free to eat any spare Catalysts if you're low on Gold.

Common Filler Items

  • Floor Spike
  • Philosopher's Stone
  • Shard of Obsidian

Example Mid Game Additions

Core Synergies

  • Runic Potion replaces Mortar & Pestle as a much more efficient source of Lifesteal.
  • Runic Daggers + Runic Great Axe creates a reliable Crit combo that will eventually carry the late game.
    • Runic Double Bow can benefit from this duo, gaining a decent amount of Damage scaling (just don't invest into it, as it'll get replaced quickly).
  • Excavation Tools helps improve the build's startup time, as many of the Relic Weapons tend to be on the slower side.

Tips & Tricks

  • If you're able to snowball and continue winning, prioritize nodes that improve your power immediately (ex. skill vendors, XP events).
    • It's possible to get a Perfect Victory (or close to) off the back of a strong tempo start, thus not needing many additional items.
    • However, if you're beginning to lose, seek out merchants and work towards a full Runic late game setup.
    • If playing a Covetous Raven setup, consider pivoting to something else entirely (since you'll likely lack the pieces).

End Game Build Breakdown

Core Synergies

  • Runic Blade is the ultimate payoff for the build and should be sought after if delving into the late game.
    • With Runic Daggers + Runic Great Axe it can reach infinite levels of Damage and one-shot the enemy.
    • If Runic Great Axe isn't Diamond-tier, make sure you have other sources of Crit. The build relies on the 100% success rate in order to scale consistently.
  • Icicle + Invigorating Cold is a neat combo that helps improve the build's startup time (which is otherwise very slow).
    • The tier of Icicle doesn't really matter, but upgrading Invigorating Cold helps apply a wider Haste.

Tips & Tricks

  • Startup time is the build's biggest downfall, as most late game builds get off the ground within a few seconds. Opposing CC can be a huge problem.
    • Applying a Radiant enchantment to Runic Blade can be a great choice, but ultimately you'll still want to find some form of Haste.
  • Upgrades really matter for the Runic package, so if you're stuck at Silver/Gold, perhaps you're better off pivoting to something else entirely.
