Overview

Submersible emerged from the Mysteries of the Deep Expansion and is effectively a Medium-sized Submarine, as long as you're including another Vehicle or Large item on board.

This is barely a requirement given the structure of most One-Weapon builds, allowing Submersible to easily take over as the superior choice.

Alongside the right Aquatic support it can be a simple yet effective strategy, and is strong enough to go the distance when the game calls for it.

One-Weapon Viability

Among the many available Weapons worth investing in, the biggest advantage of Submersible and Submarine is their inherent Shield capabilities. By having Shield that directly scales with your Damage, it allows you to shift away from the often-mandatory Crow's Nest, and instead frees up space for other powerful items.

After all, unless you're defeating enemies in a single hit with Weapons like Sniper Rifle or The Boulder, you're going to want some form of sustain to ensure you can survive long enough during combat.

Submersible doesn't output the same level of Damage compared to the likes of Flagship or Cutlass, and instead relies on having very deliberate forms of Damage scaling to compensate for its lack of power.

While the same could be said for the others, Submersible lacks the double Crit Damage of Cutlass and extensive Multicast of Flagship, meaning every extra point of Damage doesn't go nearly as far.

However, as long as you're able to create a strong amount of scaling, Submersible is more than worth the effort. Plus, having the ability to stack up Shield is often more valuable than having Lifesteal (except against Poison), giving it far better defenses than others.

Submersible + Shipwreck

Shipwreck is a key part of what makes Submersible really strong, and thanks to its Gold-tier availability (previously only Diamond), it's a lot more feasible to put together than it was previously.

Giving Submersible Multicast is crazy strong, turning it into one of the strongest Weapons in the game. This is where it really carves its niche as a One-Weapon build, since the others either aren't Aquatic or can't afford the board space.

Kripp had a Radiant enchanted Submersible which is definitely the best-in-slot enchantment. This is generally the case for most One-Weapon builds, but critically so when it's the only active item in the entire build.

Shadowed Cloak

Shadowed Cloak is one of, if not the strongest early components to enable a One-Weapon build. It makes Curio always worth visiting just for the chance of finding it, since it solves two vital problems at the same time; Damage scaling and Haste.

While a Bronze-tier Shadowed Cloak can only go so far, upgrading it can keep it at a sustainable amount of Damage, often justifying its late game inclusion. As a Neutral item, you'll generally need to use your guaranteed level-up upgrades to do this.

Kripp's Shadowed Cloak had a Heavy enchant, turning it into a monstrous form of disruption. This lets Submersible apply Slow while still having space for the Radiant enchantment on itself.

Crow's Nest

Crow's Nest can still be utilized as an effective source of Crit and Lifesteal. Ever since the Cleanse changes, Lifesteal is even stronger as it helps to remove stacks of Burn/Poison. Pairing this on top of Submersible's innate Shield gives the build even better survivability.

Supportive Items and Skills

Swash Buckle

Swash Buckle is an absolute premium item for One-Weapon builds under the right circumstances. Without a high enough Crit Chance it's hard to justify, but with, it becomes an incredible Damage (and Shield) boost.

By far the best way to capitalize on Swash Buckle is with Crit scaling skills, and when paired with a Vehicle like Submersible, there is one clear choice and it's not even close.

Flashy Pilot allows you to escalate your Crit Chance to astronomical levels, and in turn increasing the Damage/Shield values thanks to the passive effect of Swash Buckle. Surpassing the usual 100% threshold is extremely relevant when the excess amount still converts into raw stats.

Silencer

Silencer is a staple to basically every One-Weapon build, although among the rest of the usual cast, it's actually not as important with Submersible. This is because it already has such a low Cooldown. Plus once you factor in its permanent Haste, the difference becomes even less noticeable.

Regardless, it's still always worth including. Speed is everything when it comes to late game builds, as that extra split second could mean activating your Freeze skill before their build starts going off.

Clamera + Equivalent Exchange

Clamera's greatest strength is it's on-start effect, helping you get a jump on the enemy and occasionally kickstart your build with rare skill combos. Kripp had a lucky setup which utilized a Restorative Clamera + Equivalent Exchange to activate a Toxic Submersible.

This combo allowed the Clamera to immediately Charge the Submersible thanks to Shipwreck's Multicast, then Submersible would infinitely sustain itself since Lifesteal counts as Healing. A wildly powerful build, and while definitely not easy to replicate, it's a good example of how you can take advantage of rare skill drops.

Left Eye / Right Eye

Left Eye and Right Eye are solid flat increases to Crit Chance. They also tend to be more accessible than many other Crit skills since they begin at lower tiers, and since you only have one active item, you can combine both together (positioning doesn't matter).

There's always going to be better options like Flashy Pilot, but in reality you just need to pickup the best value that's offered. Not every run will offer the cream of the crop, but as long as you make an effort to get some Crit, you should be able to piece it together.

Glass Cannon

Glass Cannon offers an insane Damage boost with the obvious drawback of affecting your opponents' Weapons as well. However, having the innate Shield does help mitigate this to some extent, and there's always the chance of queueing into non-Weapon builds.

Given the speed of Submersible + Shipwreck, this build can often take better advantage than most others. Just understand that you do run a small risk of getting blown up by your own skill, so if you aren't confident in your existing setup, perhaps reconsider.

Slow and Steady

Slow and Steady is a very strong form of Damage scaling, with this build in particular taking advantage of its Heavy enchantment. There are definitely other options as well such as Tempering, although just like with Crit skills, you gotta work with what you get!
