One-Weapon Viability
Among the many available Weapons worth investing in, the biggest advantage of
Submersible and
Submarine is their inherent Shield capabilities. By having Shield that directly scales with your Damage, it allows you to shift away from the often-mandatory
Crow's Nest, and instead frees up space for other powerful items.
After all, unless you're defeating enemies in a single hit with Weapons like
Sniper Rifle or
The Boulder, you're going to want some form of sustain to ensure you can survive long enough during combat.
Submersible doesn't output the same level of Damage compared to the likes of
Flagship or
Cutlass, and instead relies on having very deliberate forms of Damage scaling to compensate for its lack of power.
While the same could be said for the others,
Submersible lacks the double Crit Damage of
Cutlass and extensive Multicast of
Flagship, meaning every extra point of Damage doesn't go nearly as far.
However, as long as you're able to create a strong amount of scaling,
Submersible is more than worth the effort. Plus, having the ability to stack up Shield is often more valuable than having Lifesteal (except against Poison), giving it far better defenses than others.
Submersible + Shipwreck
Shipwreck is a key part of what makes
Submersible really strong, and thanks to its Gold-tier availability (previously only Diamond), it's a lot more feasible to put together than it was previously.
Giving
Submersible Multicast is crazy strong, turning it into one of the strongest Weapons in the game. This is where it really carves its niche as a One-Weapon build, since the others either aren't Aquatic or can't afford the board space.
Kripp had a Radiant enchanted
Submersible which is definitely the best-in-slot enchantment. This is generally the case for most One-Weapon builds, but critically so when it's the only active item in the entire build.
Shadowed Cloak
Shadowed Cloak is one of, if not the strongest early components to enable a One-Weapon build. It makes Curio always worth visiting just for the chance of finding it, since it solves two vital problems at the same time; Damage scaling and Haste.
While a Bronze-tier
Shadowed Cloak can only go so far, upgrading it can keep it at a sustainable amount of Damage, often justifying its late game inclusion. As a Neutral item, you'll generally need to use your guaranteed level-up upgrades to do this.
Kripp's
Shadowed Cloak had a Heavy enchant, turning it into a monstrous form of disruption. This lets
Submersible apply Slow while still having space for the Radiant enchantment on itself.
