Overview

It's funny to imagine how many builds have been created off the back of the Giant Mosquito. For such a basic encounter, a timely drop can lead to a monstrously powerful combo.

We're of course talking about Proboscis, one of the most classic PvE build-arounds within the history of The Bazaar.

While Dooley may lack Slow support compared to Vanessa and Mak, there's one item in particular that makes the entire build go round... Let's dive in!

Core Combos and Synergies

Proboscis

Proboscis is one the of the strongest Weapons in the game. Being a passive item allows it to outshine most other Weapons as it doesn't have to adhere to a Cooldown; instead converting your fastest Slows directly into offense. Given how important speed is in PvP, this is a huge advantage.

This quickly gets out of hand when combined with items that create multiple Slows at a time. Certain skill/item/enchantment combos can easily take it to a whole new level. Its potential is insane.

Flat Damage skills are a solid starting point early on, but once you have reliable scaling it'll easily become your primary Damage-dealer. This is where Dooley has an advantage, because while Slows may be less available, Cores make scaling a breeze.

Plasma Grenade

Plasma Grenade is Dooley's definitive Proboscis item, just like Shot Glasses is for Vanessa. It's by far the easiest way to create many Slow triggers at once, setting up a barrage of Proboscis attacks.

Ammo is certainly its biggest factor, so make it a priority to upgrade it and expand its capacity. Gunpowder obviously helps too, along with certain skills that could drop from PvE.

Unlike Shot Glasses, Plasma Grenade can actually be an excellent disruption tool with its enemy board-wide Slow. Be sure to check Curio for Slow duration scalers like Improvised Bludgeon and Makeshift Barricade.

Weaponized Core

Weaponized Core is by far the best Core for Proboscis since it can quickly scale its Damage to absurd levels. Nothing else really holds up in comparison. While you could make use of Primal Core early on, it likely won't hold up later due to its need for Dinosaurs and Relics.

It's possible to forgo including a Core entirely, but you'll need another form of Damage scaling to compensate the loss (usually skills). Weaponized Core is definitely the most consistent option, but seeing as you won't always have access to it, at least there is an alternative.

Off-Class Combos

Beyond the foundational trio of Proboscis, Plasma Grenade, and Weaponized Core, most of the other components are a lot more flexible. Most of the heavy lifting is done by those three, so the next goal is to find the best utility that's available.

Kripp utilized many powerful off-class items in his build. Wrist Warrior was by far the strongest, taking advantage of the Shielded enchanted Proboscis to effectively double the Damage output.

Marbles, Yo-Yo, and Neural Toxin all chained together quickly to create even more Slow triggers, while Amber increased their duration. Of course, it's not every run that you're going to find these items. However, with more specialty vendors in the game (ex. Apparel, Toy) it's a lot less rare than you may think.

Regardless, there are plenty of alternatives within Dooley's own item pool that will more than suffice. BLK-SP1D3R and Cool LEDs are both solid, and worst case scenario, just fit the fastest Small items you can find to help Charge the Core.

Supportive Items and Skills

Crude Tools

Crude Tools fits very well with this particular setup, since no additional Tech items were used outside of the Weaponized Core. However, its usability will entirely depend on the structure of your build. Without the Cooldown reduction passive, you're better off with alternatives.

Strength + Noisy Cricket

Strength and Noisy Cricket are both great sources of Damage during the early game. It also helps to have at least a bit of base Damage, making sure Proboscis still hits for something, even when it hasn't had the chance to scale.

Augmented Weaponry

Augmented Weaponry is a fantastic way to scale your Damage outside of combat. This can bring Proboscis up to very threatening levels even without other scaling, so it's definitely one to look out for if you don't have Weaponized Core.

Firepower

Firepower is one of Dooley's greatest assets for Weapon builds that can fulfill its positioning. This skill could actually make it worth using other lesser ideal Cores, creating a pseudo Weaponized Core effect. Definitely a priority pickup.
