Overview

Money Furnace may look like a poor investment, but as it turns out, lighting money on fire is a very effective strategy. Once enabled, it can easily become a solo Burn win condition.

Assuming you can get started early enough, it's got great potential to scale well from the beginning to end. After all, it's important to begin investing ASAP!

Example Early Game Path

Money Furnace requires time in order to grow, meaning this build should only be pursued when found early on.

Core Synergies

  • Money Furnace can reach threatening levels of Burn after selling just a handful of Spare Change, allowing it to carry to early game.
    • Cash Register + Money Tree both offer a consistent long-term supply, with the latter also aiding your Economy.
    • Safe, Briefcase, and Piggy Bank each provide Spare Change when sold. Always worth buying if you've got the space to capitalize on them.
  • Premium Piggles help provide "Burn scaling" for Money Furnace, which can assist during the first few fights.
    • Premium Orange Piggles can also be used alongside it, if found.

Tips & Tricks

  • Managing your Stash space is incredibly important, as it's the main limiting factor when it comes to generating Spare Change.
  • Since all Spare Change is set to 0 Value, it's important to find additional ways to support your Economy.
    • Always take advantage of the +2 Income from Jungle Ruins, and purchase any early ATMs that you can afford.
  • Rewards Card and Business Card are Pyg staples, but can be awkward to carry when managing Spare Change items.
    • If opting to hold Rewards Card, prioritize using it to Value-stack Money Furnace instead of stockpiling Gold.

Common Filler Items

  • Heirlooms
  • Hot Stones
  • Matchbox

Example Mid Game Additions

Core Synergies

  • PenFT is another Value enabler which can be useful, particularly if you decide to include other items that can benefit from it.
  • Booby Trap buys time with its single-use multi-Freeze, which is often enough to let Money Furnace do its job.
    • Private Hot Springs can be useful for similar reasons, but instead provides a half-Health trigger.

Tips & Tricks

  • Money Furnace can be included among several different types of boards, allowing lots of creative freedom (and flex slots).
    • Ultimately, the goal is to scale as much Value as possible, then find ways to reliably accelerate it.
    • Adding defensive and/or utility items is also a great choice.
  • Be on the lookout for Economic Seminar (to complete the Quest), as this is generally only available during the early to mid game.
  • Lemonade Stand and Globe can be worth Stashing for the Max Health gain, IF you can afford the space.

End Game Build Breakdown

Core Synergies

  • Billboard is a great source of Shielding and allows for strong in-combat Value scaling. It also enables some silly Multicast shenanigans with the right setup.
  • Gramophone routinely aids Pyg's single-threat builds thanks to its excellent Cooldown Reduction (Diamond-tier is highly recommended).
    • Textiles is a solid alternative with fast Healing items like Bandages, letting it provide persistent Charge support.
    • Ice Luge trades a bit of upfront speed for incredible Cooldown Reduction (again, Diamond-tier makes a key difference).
  • Belt can fit flexibly and give the build a sizeable Health boost.

Tips & Tricks

  • Bootstraps can help round out missing upgrades and also spread its Enchantments. If found before level 13, save your guaranteed upgrade to hit Diamond.
    • Only consider doing this when you've got a solid Economy.
  • Loupe is always welcome for the extra funds, if you can afford to hang onto it.
  • Definitely take advantage of off-Hero items to maximize the build's potential. Anything that helps with speed or survivability is a good consideration.

Situational Variants

  • Money Tree has the potential to become a solo build-around since it naturally fits into the Money Furnace game plan.
    • While it shouldn't be a priority, it does give a playable option in case Money Furnace isn't found.
    • Generally speaking, it requires an Obsidian/Fiery/Toxic enchantment in order to be viable during the late game.
    • Balcony, Keychain, and Luxury Tents are great supporting items for this variant.
