Overview

Mak's seen many nerfs among his expansive pool of options, and for good reason. He has access to some incredible tools that support a wide range of strategies.

Funny enough, one build that's survived all throughout is one that actually existed before Mak's arrival; Magnus' Femur. It may be renamed from its original "Fossilized Femur" design, but its core remains.

This build hits hard, hits fast, and puts the opponent at snail speed. Its well-rounded design is one of its greatest strengths, and few specific pieces are needed to make it work.

Magnus' Femur is the backbone of the archetype, so as long as you find enough Slows to enable it, you're opponent will be beat down before they know what hit them!

Core Combos and Synergies

Disrupt and Demolish

The biggest advantage of this archetype is that it thrives on hindering the enemy. Having a strategy that further capitalizes on a weakened foe is a powerful combination, allowing you to get the best of both worlds.

Slow can be an extremely punishing form of disruption, especially in large quantities. Speed and efficiency is of top importance in The Bazaar, and is what makes or break a matchup in the late game. Having a Haste and/or Slow advantage versus the opponent is a huge edge.

Magnus' Femur

Magnus' Femur has built-in scaling and self-Charging capabilities that trigger each time you Slow. This counts individual instances of Slows, meaning items and/or skills that Slow more than one item at a time all count separately.

This actually means quantity comes before quality. While it always helps to have a longer Slow duration, it's the actual number of Slow procs that contribute towards strengthening and activating Magnus' Femur.

In most cases you'll want to go into this archetype before reaching level 7. Assuming you find Magnus' Femur at Silver, this ensures you can guarantee its upgrade to Gold ASAP. It's a +25 Damage scaling difference at each tier (which is a big deal), so make upgrading it a priority.

Slow Core

While there's a wide variety of useable Slow items, both within and outside of Mak's pool, Incense is the most reliable item that should fit into just about every Magnus' Femur build. It meets the quantity requirement, creating four Slow triggers when upgraded to Diamond and only takes up one Small slot on board.

Amber is an excellent component alongside Incense to help extend the otherwise short Slow duration (along with every other Slow item you have). It's also a respectable Slow on its own, and the other piece that's pretty much always worth having.

Sustain and Survivability

Slow's disruption makes it somewhat of a survivability effect already, but it does help to have some sustain as well. Runic Potion is the staple item for every Mak build that utilizes Weapons since it guarantees Lifesteal and rarely needs any Ammo support.

Invulnerability Potion is handy failsafe that can be the difference between life and death, depending on the timing. Alongside Runic Potion it's even better, because if you survive for 1-2 seconds at low Health, that may be just enough time to bonk and Lifesteal back to good Health.

Kripp had a Heavy Invulnerability Potion which added even more Slow utility to the build, further fueling Magnus' Femur. Mothmeal makes it very feasible for Mak to acquire extra Heavy enchants, so take advantage of it when you can to enhance your board even more.

Supportive Items and Skills

Accelerators

Hourglass offers some very nice Cooldown reduction to adjacent items, and in this case that's Magnus' Femur and Incense. It's particularly effective on items with a long Cooldown since it's percentage based, but then when you factor in self-Charge, it's even better.

Energy Potion gives a nice board-wide Haste to help kickstart the build. It may have limited Ammo in this case, but it's the initial seconds that count the most in order to ramp up Magnus' Femur's initial Damage. Once it gets off the ground it's much more threatening, making it worth the inclusion, even if it's temporary.

The Energy Potion was also enchanted with Heavy, adding more synergy with the build. If you want to have better control with your Reagents/enchants, look to pick up Potion Distillery or Alembic for easier access to Transforms.

Icicle Tech

Icicle served one specific purpose for this build, and that's to enable the very powerful, but very rare skill Chilling Touch. It's normally only acquired by defeating and getting it from the Lich PvE Encounter, or from the Monster Skill vendor.

When paired together with Icicle, you get to immediately Slow the opponent's entire board at the start of combat. This is already insanely powerful on its own, but combined with Magnus' Femur is one heck of a highroll if you can pull it off.

Knife Tricks

Knife Tricks is a phenomenal skill that can continuously decrease the Cooldown of Magnus' Femur throughout the fight. This means it will progressively act quicker while it grows stronger, and makes Charging it even easier.

It's particularly useful in longer fights against other scaling opponents. As strong as Magnus' Femur is, as the sole offensive threat of the build it can sometimes fail to put on enough pressure. Knife Tricks gives it some inevitability to overcome even the toughest of foes.

Stocked

Stocked helps provide some extra Ammo to ensure utility Potions get more than their one initial use. It can sometimes be hard to justify including a Potion without any Reload and only one point of Ammo, but if extended a bit further, it's often enough especially with how fast some combats can go.

Stop That!

Stop That! is a great line of defense that kicks in when your Health drops below half. It offers decent utility for any build, but with Magnus' Femur you get to double dip its value. Ideally look to get this at Gold or Diamond, as Silver only Slows two items compared to four or six, which is a considerable difference.
