Overview

Pyg is often known for his late game prowess and scaling capabilities. As The Bazaar's greatest investor, Pyg can reach heights like no other.

Many of these strategies take time to develop, putting a greater emphasis on establishing a strong Economy to last throughout the adventure.

However, despite the norm, don't forget... Not all Jabalians are pacifists!

While Crook may not be the aggressive force it once was, Jabalian Drum is here to take its place as the centerpiece for Pygmalian Weapon Aggro.

Core Combos and Synergies

Before the Drumming Begins

Jabalian Drum is the obvious core of the build, but given it's Large size and lack of additional tags, it can sometimes be challenging to find. Decent Weapons are common enough to find, but what Pyg always needs is an efficient way to scale their Damage.

Showcase is one of the best early game alternatives until you find the Drum, but there are a number of others available within Pyg's pool. Having a scaling item is a good way to ensure you can take on most early PvE Encounters, while giving you an edge in longer PvP fights.

Jabalian Longbow can deal a huge amount of Damage in the early game, but you'll usually want some Healing to make sure you stay above the opponent's current Health total. It's less effective in PvE for that reason, as monsters tend to have higher Max Health (at least in the beginning).

What you decide to use is ultimately up to you, but these are a few examples that can help. Just remember that these items have an expiration date, as by the mid game they'll generally be too slow to keep up.

Jabalian Drum

Jabalian Drum scales Weapons incredibly fast ever since the Damage was buffed. In order to take full advantage of it, look to pickup the fastest Weapons you can find. Pyg has a good amount within his own pool, but there are many off-class items that work great as well.

A reasonably common neutral find is Fang, so always remember to check The Curio, or perhaps acquire it from Fanged Inglet/Viper on Day 1.

It's important to find the Jabalian Drum before reaching level 7 for two reasons. First off, it's vital that you upgrade it ASAP to improve the Damage scaling (which is guaranteed at level 7). Secondly, if you haven't found it by then, it's likely too late.

As a more aggressive Weapon setup Jabalian Drum will want to end the run earlier rather than later. The longer the run goes, the tougher it will be. Builds that need time to scale usually aren't good enough in the late days, unless multiple strong skills and/or enchants are found.

Yo-Yo

Yo-Yo is probably the best Weapon for Jabalian Drum builds, as it triggers incredibly fast while scaling the entire board. It's also a fantastic host for enchantments, as it'll either spam Haste/disruption effects or benefit from the offensive/defensive scaling (just hope you don't get Deadly/Radiant).

Among the rest of the build, Yo-Yo should also be a high priority item to upgrade. While second to Jabalian Drum, it's important to improve its Charge rate to keep it moving at peak speeds.

Kripp had a Shielded Yo-Yo as his starting item. This is an excellent enchantment as it provides some built-in sustain which gives the build more time to scale if the fight goes longer.

Model Ship + Slingshot

Model Ship, while not a Weapon itself, is worth the inclusion specificaly because of Yo-Yo. Granting it Multicast is a huge deal, and is generally stronger than just filling the slot with slower less efficient Weapons.

Slingshot fits perfectly on the other side, acting as another fast Weapon that's also a Toy. Its limited Ammo generally isn't an issue as long as you've upgraded it, but won't be worth the slot later on if it's not at least Gold tier.

If you regularly utilize Transform events and purchase Shipments, you may even stumble upon a second Yo-Yo. This is a massive power spike if you're lucky to find it, in which case you can happily replace the Slingshot.

Snowmobile

Snowmobile combos incredibly well with Jabalian Drum + Yo-Yo. Ever since it was reworked to Charge with every Haste trigger (instead of its own), it quickly snowballs into a powerful threat.

It's well worth the size it occupies as long as you have a Yo-Yo to go with it. When available, you can utilize Model Ship to create an infinite three item Charge loop!

Supportive Items and Skills

Knife Set + Tiny Cutlass

Knife Set is a crazy powerful addition alongside Jabalian Drum + Yo-Yo. The spammy nature of the build compliments it perfectly, while also scaling its Damage in order to threaten a ton of burst. Keep an eye out for this one at Pearl's Dig Site or Jules' shop.

Tiny Cutlass is a solid filler thanks to its Small size and Multicast. It's pretty much a strict upgrade over Haladie since it's slightly faster and can deal additional Crit Damage. Overall not a huge priority but a good example of how flexible the build can be.

Atlatl

Atlatl is a Pyg classic and is well worth the inclusion, IF you can get enough Damage scaling. While It's possible to pump it up with the Jabalian Drum during combat, it's best utilized when you have already found enough means of boosting it outside of combat. Otherwise, Smaller faster Weapons tend to do a better job.

Knife Tricks

Knife Tricks works extremely well with all the Weapon spam, helping to accelerate the board even more if fights go longer. It's a good way to potentially push past and ridiculous defenses that you could encounter in later days, in case the Jabalian Drum scaling isn't enough.

Strength

Strength along with pretty much every Damage skill helps increase the build's burst potential. Board-wide Weapon skills are preferred, but positional ones like Left-Handed and Right-Handed are great too.

As fast as the Jabalian Drum scales, if your initial base Damage across the board is too weak, you may be too slow. In particular this applies if you manage to get Lifesteal (ex. Big Ego) or a Heal/Shielded enchant, as those first hits won't sustain much when the Damage is too low.

Deadly Eye

Deadly Eye is a nice form of base Crit Chance, allowing the build at least some potential to spike some extra Damage. This can certainly matter given its initial build-up, as you never know when that extra Critical burst is needed to win a fight.
