Scaling and Economy
Scaling and Economy are two of Pyg's strongest assets compared to the other Heroes. Pyg has access to numerous ways to improve both areas and is a big part of finding his consistency.
The Economy side is pretty straightforward. Picking up every
ATM you find is a great way to improve your Income. Jungle Ruins is also a great event for Pyg as he has access to a unique +2 Income option that other Heroes don't have.
Rewards Card and
Business Card are other excellent pickups that take up minimal Stash space but provide a way to rack up a ton of passive gold.
Cash Register can be good too, but it does come at the cost of a lot more Stash space, especially since you'll need two free spaces open at the end of each day.
Pyg's early game builds can be really rough right now, but a good way to get around this is by searching for a scaling item.
Regal Blade and
Silk tend to be the premium choices, but you can definitely find success with items like
Dog or
Beast of Burden.
Having access to one of these as your starting Silver item is a big benefit, since the scaling amount greatly improves at each tier. However, seeing as how many cases you won't be offered one from the start, be sure to prioritize vendors to increase your odds of picking one up. While these are pretty weak at Bronze, there's a good way to get around this issue.
Knowing that we have a guaranteed Bronze to Silver upgrade at level four is a massive benefit. Oftentimes it's correct to hold items in your Stash until you reach level four, then sell them post-upgrade for a better scaling rate. In the case of
Beast of Burden (which scales on purchase), consider holding onto your gold if there isn't anything truly worth buying.
It's absolutely find to take a few early losses. Unless you were fortunate enough to start scaling a
Regal Blade from the start, it's unlikely that you'll be strong enough to contest much in PvP. That's okay, give it some time and things will turn around.
Silk
Silk is one of the more reliable scaling items since it grows each time you sell a non-Weapon item. While the rate is obviously slower than
Regal Blade, it works with so many more items.
Chocolate Bar and Gumball events are an excellent way to get stronger at a very low cost. In the case of
Chocolate Bars, just choose the free option!
While
Silk is a bit slow, it can turn into one of the strongest bursts of Shield. This opens up the possibility to pivot to a
Spiky Shield or
Crusher Claw build, even if just temporarily.
Kripp enchanted his
Silk with Restorative, allowing it to Heal equal to its huge Shield amount. This helps counteract its Poison weakness which can be very important when queueing into Vanessa.
Infernal Greatsword
Infernal Greatsword is definitely not an item you encounter every day (dropped by the Infernal PvE Encounter), but when given the chance to create a build around it, there's some really cool ways to abuse its power. Pyg inherently has very strong ways to scale Damage. Combined with the fact that Pyg's Income is generally unmatched means you can often dig deep to find some crazy synergies.
There's no denying the power that
Infernal Greatsword can output, but it's main flaw is definitely its speed.
Silk is a great supporting item in Kripp's case to greatly improve his survivability, but if you manage to find some Cooldown reduction you'll be in incredible shape.
Dragon Tooth
While
Dragon Tooth isn't actually included IN the build, it was a pretty big component of the run. By placing it on the board during PvE you can permanently scale up the Damage on your Weapons, which is a very unique effect.
This really helped improve the pivot as the build previously didn't offer any Damage scaling. In order to best take advantage of
Dragon Tooth, be sure to select every additional PvE Encounter you can.
