Overview

In The Bazaar’s Patch 0.1.3, most meta strategies on all three heroes were nerfed and some of the many underused items got a boost in performance.

One of those strategies - the Rays - saw all of its cards receive sizable buffs that increased its consistency and overall power.

In today’s build, Kripp makes use of these buffs to pull together a super strong Ray board very early on in the game and cruise it to 10 wins.

Note that this build archetype is incredibly versatile, so we'll be providing multiple example boards that Kripp has played with.

For example, you can go with the Chronobarrier variant to disrupt infinite combos or tech in Force Field to beat other Ray builds.

Core Combos and Synergies

Ignition Core

If you’re aiming at a Ray build, any Core that charges when using any item will do nicely. You can pull the build off with pretty much any core, but we advise against picking the for this particular build, since you’d need to dedicate a few board slots to specific friends and that won’t allow for many tech options in the end game.

looks like the best choice for this particular style of build due to its early game power working nicely off of the Rays now being available at Bronze tier.

Chronobarrier

was another item that was buffed and bugfixed in the patch. Due to the amount of infinite combos in the meta, abilities that can increase enemy cooldowns are incredibly powerful.

The Rays

is the star of the build. Its buff from Hasting itself to Charging on Core and Ray use pushed the build to the next level. If you have a full setup of Rays, the will start machine gunning your opponent’s small items and pretty much locking them out of being used.

is one of the main sources of damage and will scale itself very fast once your Ray and Core engine starts going. Note that it will buff any Poison item, and that includes itself.

is the reason why Ignition Core is likely the best Core for the Ray build: it’s the only Core that scales off of the Ray, and that happens through y. You want this card placed to the left of your main core, since charging the core for one extra second will be better then if it was placed to the right of it to gain extra burn.

Last but not least, Alpha Ray will enable the build even further as an extra scaler, but don’t think this is a bad card at all! The damage it provides can be important to get rid of shielding for your burn to really kick in. It also helps a lot with scaling when your Core of Choice is one of the three damage options.

Forcefield Counter Tech

Since Rays have become popular in the meta, you can beat the mirror matchup by teching in instead of

- this is because it will outrace other Ray builds that need more time to ramp up.

Oven Mitts Tech

If you're able to get to a Jules vendor, can be a powerful tech option that can result in insanely high Burn. Since Jules only has 10 items, you have a 60% chance of finding it to slot into alongside your and .

Supportive Items and Skills

Supportive Items

Cool LEDs + Duct Tape

You can never go wrong with these two Dooley staple items. will provide a lot of slow in this build since the goal is to charge the Core a lot and that works just too well with the item’s passive. Make sure to pick up the item when you can and use it as board slots open up and your Core starts to go insane.

is arguably the best generic Dooley item and you can never get rid of this card unless you’re selling a Bronze version to fish for a higher rarity pull on later days. It has very good synergy with spam builds and this one is no different. Put it next to the core and you pretty much don’t have to worry about shields anymore.

Note: In the video, Kripp’s was enchanted with Shielding. While that’s very strong, it’s not particularly needed for the build’s success.

In the Hotfix, Tempo disabled the Level Up Reward that gave two Feather items. Players were pulling games with multiple pickups and reducing their items’ cooldowns by extreme values, and Chronobarrier helped keep these cooldowns in check.

You can use many different items as your tech choice, but it is important that they have either some kind of Crowd Control (Slow, Freeze, Cooldown increase), heavy defenses in the form of shields, or are extremely offensive.

Supportive Skills

With the removal of day one skills, it’s very important to hold on in the first few days and only start picking up skills later on, when they start being offered at Silver tier or above.

is probably the most important skill to get over the course of the game because builds that aren’t based around the really lack on Haste, and fixes just that. Play around getting it to Diamond tier as soon as possible.

gets the early game going by adding extra power to the Core that’s being charged a lot

Slowed Targets helped push to the next level by giving the whole board Critical Chance so Poison and Burn would hit much harder.

enhanced the Beta Ray’s power by hasting the Core. Since the Beta Ray was already being used like a machine gun, the permanent haste on a charging core comes in very handy.

Just like Synapse, greatly improved the board’s starting power with a board-wide haste as soon as went off for the first time.

Last but not least, skills that scale the Duct Tape are very important to pick up along the way.

scales very well with the and . You can get this from the Void Colossus PvE Encounter from day 10 onwards.

With the items scaling crit chance, pushes and over the edge by providing the high amount of shields that other skills nerfed this patch just can’t provide anymore.

, , and are cookie cutter Shield scaling skills that you can pick up along the way from the shield vender on early days. It’s key to remember that unless a specific Silver Tier Skill Vendor shows up, you want to start going for skills from day 5 onwards since the chance of them being Silver Tier starts getting real around these days.
