Overview

When you begin a run in The Bazaar, sometimes you'll go into it with a specific direction or build in mind. Other times, you have to stay open minded, but eventually lean towards a path as each stepping stone is placed before us.

And then there are builds like this one, created almost entirely from unlikely events. But that’s not to say luck is the only factor. A keen eye for opportunity can turn unplanned circumstances into a masterfully crafted contraption!

In this guide, we'll cover how Kripp was able to pull off a Flamethrower build of all things, with Pygmalien!

How to Fuel Your Flamethrower

Flamethrower is a Dooley item that offers crazy Burn potential if you’re able to effectively scale its Damage value. At Gold, it’s a 1:1 ratio, whereas Diamond tier will grant Burn equal to twice the amount.

The easiest way to acquire a Flamethrower while not playing Dooley is through the Burninator Bot PvE Encounter.

Kripp managed to apply a Toxic enchant to his Flamethrower which is a huge buff to its overall damage over time output. This is a great benefit if you can get it, but not mandatory for the build.

Augmented Weaponry

Since the Flamethrower has a six-second Cooldown, you’ll need to have enough scaling to justify using it. There are many ways to do this, but Kripp’s run showcased the absolute best Weapon scaling possible; Augmented Weaponry.

This skill exclusively drops from the Tent City Mayor PvE Encounter. It’s a very easy fight that’s accessible on Day Two, and if you’re lucky, can carry your entire run.

If acquired, spend as much as you can buying and selling Small items. The Gumball event is a fantastic way to take advantage of this by guaranteeing +10 Damage on top of added Gumball bonuses. Chocolate Bar and Spare Change are solid alternatives.

Dragon Whelp

Burn is usually best when you have multiple sources that can apply it. But you know what’s even better? Having a second Flamethrower.

Yet another lucky find, Kripp picked up the Dragon Whelp from the Zookeeper PvE Encounter. With the same text as Flamethrower, it’s the perfect item to fit with Augmented Weaponry.

Kripp managed to get a Radiant enchant which helps protect it from enemy disruption. Again, not mandatory but a welcome addition.

Supportive Items and Skills

Phonograph

Phonograph is a great supporting piece to help accelerate the otherwise sluggish Flamethrower. A 25% reduction may not seem like much on the surface, but it matters a lot when it comes to stacking more Burn on the next attack. After all, with damage over time, every second counts!

Kripp got the Deadly enchant which allowed the Phonograph to apply Crit Chance to the Flamethrower. Another excellent find.

Atlatl

Atlatl fits perfectly with the build as it’s solely reliant on Damage scaling to be viable. It’s also an item that needs no upgrades, so even picking it up at Bronze can be worth it for later on.

Kripp enchanted it with Obsidian, allowing it to be a fast source of Lifesteal to help survive until the Burn takes over.

First Aiden

First Aiden fills a Small slot to add some Haste support to the build. Of the build, this would be the most replaceable if you happen to find a better alternative. That said, as yet another unlikely drop from the Weapons Platform PvE Encounter, it did a fine job filling the Small slot.

Belt

Survival is important, especially when playing a DoT build. Belt helps buy enough time so the Flamethrower and Dragon Whelp can scorch the enemy.

Strong Arm

More Damage is always welcome and Strong Arm gives a big boost for a low investment. It’s a good choice over many other flat Weapon Damage skills since it applies to items of any size.

Petrifying Gaze

Petrifying Gaze is an incredibly powerful monster skill dropped from the Gorgon Noble PvE Encounter. Freezing the opponent’s entire board when your health drops below half can be game winning.

At this point, it should come at no surprise that it dropped for Kripp during this run!
