Cash Cannon

Overview

Cash Cannon recently received a massive buff that doubles the scaling it gets from gaining money that I feel like most people have yet to pick up on. As someone who has been having a lot of fun with it, here are my main takeaways.

Early Game

Early Cash Cannon is great, but an early Money Tree is almost as important. If you get tree before cannon, you can stack its value while you look for cannon, so I put a lot of prio on the heal vendor. Day 1 it only has 11 total options and it also has Ganjo which can help pick up some early wins. While I wait for cannon to come online, I'll play anything I get to try and scrape by early, but I'm always leaning heal if possible to pivot to Textiles later. Burn can also be good for this if you can get Sauna.

For the level 4 B1-B2, I like upgrading tree over cannon. Cannon upgrade is great later, or if we get another B1-B2 event, but the early money from tree is just so useful to snowball into more value stacking items later and scale the cannon's damage.

Mid/Late Game

This is when we start stacking money like crazy. Loupe, Business Card, and Rewards Card are all mainstays of my stash. I also try and have a large value stacker like Money Tree, Vineyard, Landscraper, or Pawn Shop in my stash the majority of the time. When I see another one I like in a shop I cash out the one I have and switch it out.

As for the board itself, our only goal is to make cannon as fast as possible. I try to get Textiles and Ice Luge every run for this. For luge in particular, I try and plan ahead for it before I have it, stashing any ammo loot I get and prioritizing radiant enchant on cannon. Hero vendors can also have good options for speeding up the cannon. I normally prio Dooley and Vanessa for Fiber Optics / Metronome and Captain's Wheel / Rowboat respectively.

Late game, I'm normally starting each day with around 200g from the scaling, so at that point I pretty much buy sell everything as long as I have a value scaler in my stash.

Uwashiwali BirdCard border

This is a pretty standard board if I get all the Pyg items I want. Positioning can change due to skills like right eye/left eye, but the goal is still the same. I've had up to 4000 damage on a cash cannon (without obsidian) by the end of a run, and you tend to accumulate a fair amount of crit from gumballs and skills, so it can pack quite a punch.

Alternative Example Board

Spirit DiffuserCard border
Cash CannonCard border
GramophoneCard border
BeltCard border
IcicleCard border

If you're lucky enough to get spirit diffuser, it's another great way of charging the cash cannon. On this board I'm using no other active items to ensure that the diffuser charges the cannon. The biggest risk of this variation is permafreeze, which is another reason to look for radiant on the cannon.

The Main Engine (Necessary Core)

Cash Cannon is obviously the core of this build and every other core item lives to serve it. Textiles is the most consistent way of speeding it up with Ice Luge being a great option as well.

Money Tree, Vineyard, Landscraper, and Pawn Shop are all great ways of value farming and should keep you quite rich.

Similarly, the best skills are the ones that speed up or help scale the cannon. For speed, Shield Bash is great to make sure you get a shot or two in before you can be burst down, Mixed Message essentially doubles the textiles effect for the start of the fight, and Quality over Quantity is great sustain. (These skills are also why I try to avoid kukri)

For money skills, it doesn't get much better than Housewarming Gifts. With a diamond Vineyard or Landscraper, diamond Housewarming Gifts turns one property vendor into over 100 gold, and if you have Loupe it's even better. Chocoholic is great for the same reason.

Supportive Items and Skills

With Textiles, the more heal triggers the better, so Luxury Tents can be a big power spike. Even without it though, we can go fairly fast with some of the following heal items:

  • Bandages is a 2 second heal on a small item, a must have for textiles
  • Succulents isn't too fast, but is small, and the more heal items we can fit the better, so it often finds a spot
  • Uwashiwali Bird is essentially slightly worse than Succulents without Tents and significantly better with Tents
  • Hammock is basically a bigger Succulents at silver, but gets much faster as it upgrades
  • Kukri is a great small heal item, but it steals charge from Shield Bash and Mixed Message and negates the effect of Quality over Quantity. If you don't have those skills, it's great, but be ready to replace it if you get one
  • Sauna is a great way to pivot from a burn build into textiles with Matchbox and Hot Stones

For more skills, anything that gives cannon crit is good, so Right Eye, Left Eye, Deadly Eye
