Overview

Mak is so far showcasing a wide variety of powerful builds, allowing players the freedom to explore many different directions.

While brewing Potions is his bread and butter, Weapon Mak is no joke.

These builds may not be as clear cut as Vanessa's, but through unconventional means Mak can dish out Damage like the rest of them.

Be sure to check out the VOD of Kripp's near-flawless run to see it in action!

Core Combos and Synergies

Starting Off Strong

First let's address the elephant in the room. Half of the build displayed above is by no means optimal, in fact, it's literally just mean't to fill the board.

Additionally, the final board is very different from the build which led the run, and so I think it's only fair to explore its roots.

However, considering the build includes some worthless items and still got the job done should speak for itself.

Magic Carpet

Magic Carpet deals a respectable amount of Damage for its Cooldown and size. It almost feels like a variant of Atlatl, except with a higher floor and lower ceiling, which is more than good enough early on.

While getting a reliable Crit Chance can be challenging for some Heroes, for Mak it comes naturally. Considering that many of his items literally have 100% Crit tacked onto them, it's not hard to get Magic Carpet to a very low Cooldown. Kripp assembled an early combo that fulfilled this perfectly.

Boiling Flask + Bottled Lightning

Boiling Flask is an exceptionally strong item for many Potion builds, but alongside Bottled Lightning it became the perfect enabler for the Magic Carpet. What made it even better was getting a second Bottled Lightning after transforming a Reagent, creating a bursty Multicasting Crit machine.

The front-loaded Damage was certainly a good starting point, but it also immediately reduces the Magic Carpet's Cooldown by four seconds. This combo kicked it into gear, acting as a one-two punch with Magic Carpet as the cleanup. Mortar & Pestle helped add some sustain and scaling when needed.

Bottled Explosion

Bottled Explosion eventually become the superior Weapon of choice. Its Damage scaling absolutely goes through the roof with just a little bit of help from skills. What's important is ensuring you have the Ammo support and Boiling Flask for the Multicast, alongside some form of sustain via Lifesteal or Healing.

Supportive Items and Skills

Runic Potion + Vitality Potion

Runic Potion helps grant Lifesteal to Bottled Explosion, acting as a key form of sustain for just a Small slot. It's ideal to keep as few other Weapons as possible, generally zero, to ensure the Lifesteal lands on Bottled Explosion in time.

Vitality Potion is great for similar reasons and makes for a fantastic enchantment target. You'll want to look for offensive enchants that can effectively convert a percentage of your Max Health into Burn/Poison/Damage, or Shielded for a ton of extra defense.

Thrown Net + Temporal Strike

Thrown Net really has no business in this build generally, but when rolling at the Diamond skill vendor, Kripp happened to pick up Temporal Strike among few useful options. With this acquired, it made sense to ditch the rest of the Weapon package and shift towards empowering Bottled Explosion.

Noisy Cricket

Noisy Cricket is the sole reason why other miscellaneous junk items were included in the build. When making last minute adjustments to the board, Kripp cut out Weapons to enable Temporal Strike, but also had to scrounge whatever was available to fill the board with seven items.

Since Weapons weren't an option, it was all about finding whatever non-Weapons were around. Quill and Ink was one of them, and eventually on the last hour Kripp grabbed the Chocolate Bar event to ensure he'd meet the requirements. It turns out when the core combo is powerful enough, the rest doesn't even matter!

Stocked

Stocked is a pretty key part of the puzzle, allowing the build the freedom to really capitalize on Potions. While Boiling Flask is an incredible Multicast enabler, its actual Reload ability is on the unreliable end. Its too slow to solely rely on, so having any additional capacity goes a long way to ensuring there's no delay between casts.
