Overview

Beast of Burden is a funny item for 3 reasons:

  1. It is a blue llama camel thing.
  2. There is no other item in the game (besides Ballista) that can reach the amount of Multicast it can hold, which can bulldoze your opponent when it triggers.
  3. This item was changed twice.

I did not get to utilise the first two versions of this item, but I had my eyes opened to the magnificence of the third Beast of Burden, which still has the same potential it had back when it had it's previous Multicasting effect. This build does require a bit more thinking and inventory management, but it's worth it if you pull it off.

All you need is a loaded pair of pants.

With the help of Cargo Shorts, Beast of Burden draws upon the power of your stash in addition to your board! In my case, I managed to get 13-Multicast on it! Phonograph is a great addition to the build, as it halves the cooldown of the Beast of Burden, making the Beast cast in 5 seconds! For support, the Dragon Tooth is a great pick as it is both a damage-increasing item and a Dragon-Type item, which is currently the second-rarest type in the game and great for upping that Multicast.

Belt is also here. It's here because we have space, and Belt is good. :>

Alternative Example Board

This isn't an alternative board. This is an example for your Stash, which is as important as your Main Board.

Model Ship has Aquatic and Toy, ATM has Property and Tech, Thurible has Tool and Relic, Truffles has Food and Scrap has Loot.

These items have ideal tags, but can be substituted.

  • Model ShipCan be replaced with any Toy. This is the only Pyg item with the Aquatic type, so it's an important item to find.
  • ATM Can be replaced with Snow Globe but this has a rare tag (Tech). This is Bronze, so don't worry about substituting.
  • ThuribleCan be replaced with any Tool. This also has a rare tag (Relic), but this is usually unattainable. Aim for Cash Register or Globe instead.
  • TrufflesCan be replaced with any Food. Make sure you sell your excess food!
  • Scrap Can be replaced with any Loot except Insect Wing, Feather or Eagle Talisman. Those are better off used on Beast of Burden.

If you manage to find a Ray or Potion, then hold it! Dinosaurs are too big to keep, so just sell it.

The Main Engine (Necessary Core)

The Beast

The first thing you'll need to do is get both Beast of Burden and Cargo Shorts. This is usually easy, because they both have easily searchable traits and both have an accessible rarity! The faster you can find them, the faster you can try and focus on finding the other pieces of the build.

The most helpful thing to do is to build up a good economy. You're going to be grabbing a lot of stuff to build up the Beast, so some good economy items would be things like ATM, Rewards Card and Business Card. Income gain is also important, and should be prioritised as well (Jungle Ruins!!).

The Burden

Later on, pay attention to your Stash. The Stash directly affects your Beast of Burden while the Beast is flexible on the board's structure. You should also focus on increasing your Beast of Burden's damage once you've built 9+ Multicast.

Once you've built your Beast and Shorts, you should look for Cooldown-Reducing items. Phonograph IS PERFECT FOR THIS AND SHOULD BE SOUGHT AFTER.

Supportive Items and Skills

The Of

Dragon Tooth is a great item to grab. It's not essential, but it is helpful as it is both a damage-increasing item and a Dragon-Type item.

As mentioned before, Cooldown-Reducing items are great because we want our Beast of Burden to activate as soon as possible. Other than the godlike Phonograph, there is also Stained Glass Window, Long Strides and Silencer.

Skills that increase damage or Crit Chance are good because Beast of Burden benefits greatly from them. Left-Handed and Right-Handed are good to grab, and Cash Deposits is especially nice to have. Quality over Quantity is amazing because LIFESTEAL.

This build tends to have a few slots open, so Apropos Chapeau or Belt fits nicely. A nice accessory for your Cargo Shorts!

Lastly, Lethargy! It may not look like a benefit, but it is actually a REALLY potent option. Think about it; Gold-Tier Lethargy with Diamond-Tier Phonograph is technically Bonk! This will disrupt a lot of spammy builds you'll inevitably face against.
