Tainted Chromatic Orb Odds

Overview

Tainted Chromatic Orbs, a common drop from Beyond bosses and a rare drop from other Beyond monsters, are a useful tool for situations where Chromatic Orbs won't get the job done. Maybe you want 4 green sockets on Garb of the Ephemeral, which almost exclusively rolls blue and red sockets.

Tainted Chromes can only be used upon corrupted items.

These Orbs completely ignore the bias toward socket colors that match the item's attribute requirements.

Each socket is rolled independently, with an equal chance for each of the three socket colors. No biases at all, just a straight one in three.

Generally, these should be used mostly on corrupted six-linked chestpieces.

Six Linked Items

There's 729 possible socket colorings for a six socket item, but many of these are functionally equivalent (other than corner cases where trigger order is important; such as Cast on Critical Strike builds that link both Desecrate and Detonate Dead to the Cast On Critical Strike trigger skill).

For example, 90 of these 729 orders have two green sockets, two blue sockets and two red sockets, with only the order mattering. And 60 have three green, two blue and one red.

Items With Fewer Links

Unless you want every socket to be the same as each other, just send it.

Even hitting 4 of a single color (e.g. 4 green) in a 4 socket item is >1%; these odds increase by a factor of at least 4 when you want a mix of colors.

Tainted Chromes are not precious, even in SSF you can find more easily.
