Build Overview

This build is a fantastic mapper with screenwide coverage. It's fun to play, has enormous damage, huge overleech life recovery, and unmatched damage uptime. It should be great for the new Breach mechanic! A Slam build without a bunch of warcries? Log in!

Mule a Scion for a free Spectral Throw

Use any good weapons you find early on, dual wield or 2H, doesn't matter as Spectral Throw has no weapon restrictions. Keep an eye out for a 2H Axe or Mace for level 12

Buy 2x Iron Ring and Rustic Sash early for extra damage if you have spare Wisdom Scrolls

How it Plays

The Slams

Ground Slam of Earthshaking

  • Wide frontal cone slam with Huge Aoe and a higher chance to stun
  • The bread and butter for mapping

Vaal Ground Slam

  • Huge omni-directional AoE slam that's near-spammable. This skill feels great
  • 4 charges, 15 souls per use, 1 second soul gain prevention
  • It's almost always available
  • Cannot be empowered by Fist of War Support but can be empowered by Seismic Cry and Rallying Cry

It may be difficult to get Vaal Ground Slam of Earthshaking on leaguestart, running Sunder for early map progression may be preferable

Sunder

  • Long and narrow, gets wider as it travels
  • Up to 5 enemies hit within each wave send out shockwaves which destroys dense monster packs
  • The shockwaves can aggravate bleeds, and proc Headsman
  • Only one Sunder can be activate at a time (though all Sunders travel for at least 2 waves)
  • Excels at long and narrow maps (Silo, Ziggurat), Uber Bosses where some extra range is valuable (Uber Sirus, Uber Exarch), or content with tightly-packed dense monsters (Blight)

Earthquake

  • Slam with two parts: a smaller initial AoE, which then explodes in a big Aftershock that does much more damage
  • Can't be spammed as a crack must erupt before another one can be created
  • Must be linked to Less Duration Support
  • Avoid the Damage Over Time mastery that has Ailment Duration + Skill Effect Duration if you run Earthquake
  • Omni-directional: Great choice for those that don't want to aim their attacks

All of these Slams have similar bleed damage, feel free to run whichever you prefer!

Mapping

  • Try to alternate between Ground Slam of Earthshaking and Vaal Ground Slam
  • Maintain Blood Rage

Single-Target Opener

  1. War Banner
  2. Vulnerability
  3. Static Strike
  4. Rallying Cry
  5. Tincture
  6. Spam your Slam to get a nice initial bleed rolling

The goal is to stack multiple damage buffs to get a big initial bleed rolling

Always turn off the Tincture after 5 to 10 seconds to avoid running out of mana

For those looking for a more relaxed playstyle, drop any combination of War Banner, Static Strike, or the Tincture

How it Works

Mechanics

For bossing, each hit has a 35% or 45% chance to aggravate bleeds: 25% from bleed Exerted Attacks mastery, 10% from Vulnerability quality, and 10% from Bloodletting if you have it

Static Strike: Aggravates bleeds, quickly summons Herald of Purity minions for the Rallying Cry damage buff, and applies the increased physical damage taken debuff from Maim Support

Tips

  • Avoid pairing Volatility Support with Ryslatha's Coil for mapping as it can make damage a bit too inconsistent
  • Haemophilia is a solid mapping option, especially with a Vulnerability corruption implicit
  • Equip Redblade Banner in your offhand with an Enduring Cry for instant maximum endurance charges
  • Vaal Molten Shell is a an option, though it does eat into Vaal Ground Slam usage a bit

Frequently Asked Questions

4th Ascendancy

The first 3 notables are set in stone:

  1. Bane of Legends
  2. Headsman
  3. Brutal Fervour

For the 4th Ascendancy, there are many options:

  • Impact60% increased AoE while mapping and extra hit-damage
  • Endless Hunger — extra leech, 20% attack speed, stun immunity, and bleed immunity which frees up a passive point for the bleed mastery
  • That didn't happen from the new Delirium Bloodline (formerly Schizophrenic Dissociation). Grants a large defensive boost, at the cost of a bit of damage. This is unlocked by completing Simulacrum which is surprisingly difficult
    • 4 seconds after each Hit you take, lose Life equal to 40% of Damage taken from that Hit
    • Non-Cluster, Non-Passage Jewels Socketed in your Passive Skill Tree have no effect
  • Otherworldly Appendages — from the new Breachlord Bloodline. Here we'd run an Uulgraft (likely bleed-themed), and a Xophgraft. These can probably be swapped around for Uber Bosses
    • Take 15% less Lightning Damage with at least one Eshgraft
    • Take 15% less Cold Damage with at least one Tulgraft
    • Take 15% less Physical Damage with at least one Uulgraft
    • Take 15% less Fire Damage with at least one Xophgraft
    • Nearby Enemies take 100% increased Damage from Graft Skills

Grafts

  • Seize the Flesh - Mandatory (Uulgraft - spikes popped by warcries)
  • Return to Dust (Uulgraft - xesht hand slams)
  • BEST MODS:
    • % increased maximum Life
    • % increased Graftblood Gained
    • +% to Damage over Time Multiplier
    • % increased Global Physical Damage
    • Attacks have % chance to cause Bleeding
    • % increased Maximum total Life Recovery per second from Leech


  • Defensive: Heart of Flame (steelskin-like defensive with 80% absorb and bigger pool)
    • Blood Rage continuously triggers this, can avoid it being repeatedly triggered by running the Life Mastery "You count as on Full Life while at 90% of maximum Life or above"
  • BEST MODS:
    • % increased Graftblood Gained
    • Damaging Ailments deal damage % faster
    • % increased Warcry Cooldown Recovery Rate
    • % increased Area of Effect
    • +(1–2)% to maximum Fire Resistance
    • Skills used by this Graft have % increased Cooldown Recovery Rate
    • +4 to level of Skills used by this Graft
    • An additional (5–10)% of Damage from Hits is taken from Heart of Flame Buff used by this Graft before Life or Energy Shield

Mana Issues

Campaign: Drop Precision after reaching Resolute Technique, Grab Spirit of War

Options to fix Mana:

  • Get two -mana crafts on rings (craft unlocked in Tier 14 Orchard)
  • Run Lifetap Support
  • Helmet Eldritch implicit: % reduced Mana Cost of Attacks (Exarch)
  • Life Mastery: Skills cost Life instead of 15% of mana cost
  • Attack Mastery: Attack Skills cost Life instead of 20% of mana cost at Brinkmanship
  • Run a Mana Flask with the Enduring modifier (Effect is not removed when Unreserved Mana is Fille)

Crafting

  • Axe — Vaal Axe ideal, Sundering Axe works too
    • Early-Midgame: League mechanic tree
    • Lategame: Recombinator. Check out my Recombinator video guide on YouTube
  • Body — League mechanic, ideally get fractured suppress
    • Prefixes: harvest reforge defense until two of %armEv, flatArm/Ev, or life, then craft the 3rd, reforge more likely. Alternatively use Dense Fossils
    • Suffixes: Craft Prefixes cannot be Changed, reforge Physical until satisfied, craft whatever
  • Gloves — Too much crafting variance here, but aim for life, suppression, attack speed, and damage while leeching prefix craft
  • Amulet — Recombinate attributes, life, damage over time multiplier
  • Rings — Harvest reforge Chaos until good suffixes, craft Suffixes Cannot be Changed, reforge Life, repeat until satisfied
  • Large Cluster — 8 Passive Axe/Sword. i50-67 cheaper to roll, i68+ works fine otherwise
    • Harvest Reforge Attack or Speed until Fuel the Fight, Feed the Fury, and either Martial Prowess or Heavy Hitter for the 3rd
  • Medium Cluster — 4 or 5 Passive Physical DoT Multi
    • Reforge Physical until one of Rend or Flow of Life and another decent mod: Circling Oblivion, Wound Aggravation, Wasting Affliction
  • Small Cluster — 3 passive Suppression cluster.
    • Any elemental Harvest Reforge (fire/cold/lightning) until Aerialist, Untouchable, Elegant Form along with 25% increased effect of passives
  • Jewels — Harvest reforge life until %life and good damage mods

Gear Wombgraft Trees

  • 2H Axe
    • Optional: Remove Dex node, experiment with it
  • Gloves / Boots / Helm — this won't create finished items, it fishes for Life & Suppression fracture
    • Optional: Add in Body Armour
  • Belts — useful in SSF pre Ryslatha's Coil
