The Huntress is an excellent Starting Class with access to several high-potential leveling builds.
Huntress Levelling & League Starter Tier List
Tier List
Commentary
THIS TIER LIST IS BASED ON THE 0.4 STATE OF THE GAME AND WILL BE UPDATED ONCE PATCH NOTES ARE OUT!
Each Build has 3 Categories it is ranked in, summarized to a final Rating.
- Single Target - How smoothly and fast can it kill Bosses? Consistent Sub 3 Seconds is S-Tier
- Clear - How easily does it clear White & Blue Packs? Can stay on Exp without having to stop to kill. S-Tier is passive killing or quickly clearing the Screen
- Complexity - Low Complexity Builds are better as they are simpler to learn and don't require as much experience, while High Complexity builds require lots of practice to deal properly with Bosses and Clear. CAPITAL written Complexity means it has many Buttons/Actions to perform throughout Bossing and/or Zone Running.
S-Tier
Twister
Amazon or Spirit Walker
- Single Target: S-Tier / Some Bosses A-Tier due to bad Arena Layout
- Clear: S-Tier
- Complexity: MID
Twister is THE UNDERDOG for Amazon Leveling, having been considered a NICHE Pet Skill and not extensively tested before the Reveal of 0.5. Snoobae85 has proven that it is, in fact, really fast and also strong throughout the Campaign and Endgame. Having excellent, clear, and 0 struggle to stay on Level.
It requires some getting used to and knowledge of the different Boss Arenas to maximize on
Twister Overlap. The Potential with Spirit Walker for additional Projectiles and Projectile Speed is insane, and it is also the best Skill to utilize Shocked Ground alongside
Primal Strikes.
If you want to League Start Twisters, I highly recommend checking out Snoobae85! If I leaguestart Twister, then as a Levelling and Early Maps Build before I swap into other Spear Skills.
Grenade
Amazon or Spirit Walker
- Single Target: S-Tier
- Clear: S-Tier (once used to Grenade Delay, before A-Tier)
- Complexity: MID
Grenades are extremely powerful and the most likely build to get nerfed in the 0.5 Patch Notes. Able to quickly kill any boss throughout the Campaign and a Top Contender for Bossing Content like Ritual or the new Pinnacle Bosses at League Start.
The Biggest Weakness of the Build is the delay in Damage and Placement of Grenades that you will have to get used to if you want to League Start Nades. It is also up to 5 Grenade Skills at the End of the campaign that have to be rotated for maximum Damage. Resulting in a High Action Count to perform and a high Mana Consumption.
There is also some crazy Potential with the Spirit Walker. Stacking additional Projectiles for even more burst Damage.
A-Tier
Ice Shot
Amazon or Spirit Walker (Respec at LvL 31)
- Single Target: A-Tier (once used to Snipe Timing, before B-Tier)
- Clear: S-Tier
- Complexity: MID
Ice Shot is available at Level 31, before you have to level as either
Twister or
Lightning Arrow and
Lightning Rod. LA/LR is recommended to stay on Bow and have access to a powerful Weapon at End of Act 2 + Early Act 3.
The main Issue of
Ice Shot is the Bossing Rotation. It's clear is amazing, having access to
Ice-Tipped Arrows,
Herald of Ice and
Ice Shot itself.
But for Bossing to do any proper Damage, first you have to freeze the Boss and then hit
Snipe during the Perfect Timing Window. Otherwise, you do way less Damage and have to wait 10+ Seconds to be able to freeze the Boss again. I highly recommend practicing this a bunch of times before League Start if you want to go Ice Shot.
Once in the Endgame
Ice Shot is a powerhouse of a Clear Build and is still one of my top contenders for my League Starter going into Patch Notes.
B-Tier
Lighting Arrow & Lightning Rod
Amazon or Spirit Walker
- Single Target: B-Tier
- Clear: A-Tier
- Complexity: MID
Both
Lightning Arrow and
Lightning Rod got nerfed Several Times in previous Patches due to being one of the Strongest Options for both Campaign and Endgame as a League Starter. It is still by no means Weak or Unplayable, but doesn't perform as well as other Options.
Poison Amazon
- Single Target: B-Tier
- Clear: A-Tier
- Complexity: MID
My previous League Starter for 0.4, and one I have been incredibly happy with, that said, it has some weaknesses.
While Mapping was incredible on the Build, with Herald Chains and Poison Proliferation, during Campaign, the Clear felt underwhelming compared to better Options. The Single Target of the Build requires a lot of Setup and upkeep, resulting in high mana consumption. It also does a Mix of On-Hit and DoT, resulting in slower Boss Kills compared to
Twister or
Explosive Grenade.
C-Tier
Elemental Spear Skills
Amazon or Spirit Walker
- Single Target: B-Tier
- Clear: C-Tier
- Complexity: HIGH
Explosive Spear &
Storm Lance for Single Target
Primal Strikes once consistent Shocked Ground (1st Lab Spirit Walker)
Lightning Spear and
Explosive Spear for Clear
Non-Twister Elemental Spear relies on Parry for early Charge Generation, causing a rigid Play Experience.
Parry >
Disengage >
Explosive Spear /
Lightning Spear /
Glacial Lance
a
Primal Strikes,
Glacial Lance and
Lightning Spear have insane Late Game Potentail once the Character has Access to Lineage Gems, Gem Level from Gear, and a proper Weapon. The Spirit Walker Ascendancy is also looking perfect for Spear Amazon.
Instead of struggling through Campaign on other Spear Skills, using
Twister and respecing once in Maps is highly recommended. This will likely be my starter, adjusting the highly optimized Twister PoB from Snoobae85 and adjusting it to a more generic Spear Tree for easy respec into
Primal Strikes once in Maps.
D-Tier
I skipped the Sub Rating for D-Tier Levelling & League Starter Builds and just explained why they are ranked so low.
Bleed Spear
Amazon
Not enough Skills, Passive Points, and general Support yet
Ammo Crossbow
Amazon or Spirit Walker
Decent Clear, but no good Bossing until way later into the Late Campaign compared to Grenades. It is worth noting that Ammo Crossbow Skills have not been tested as much as Grenades for Campaign, but there are some with high potential, like
Glacial Bolt or
Stormblast Bolts
Quarterstaff
Amazon
Quarterstaff Skills are not inherently bad. The best Way to level with Quarterstaff Skills is
Hollow Palm Technique which is to far away from the Amazon Start and would come online to late into the campaign. It is also worth noting that
Hollow Palm Technique doesn't synergize as well with
Amazon or Spirit Walker.
