Currently there's 4 Expedition NPC's
- Dannig (Selling Currency for other 3 NPC's).
- Gwennen (Selling Weapons).
- Tujen (Selling Jewellery).
- Rog (Selling Armor).
Note, they not just sell gear, they allow you to "craft" it few times, providing one of few options randomly.
List of options you can get when crafting items
- Adds single Prefix or Suffix.
- Adds modifier to Magic item making it Rare.
- Fill all empty Prefixes and Suffixes.
- Reroll all Prefixes or Suffixes.
- Reroll values of Prefixes or Suffixes (Like using Divine Orb).
- Remove lowest level modifier, it does highlight what exact mod it would remove.
- Remove all Prefixes or Suffixes.
- Also, you can skip current option, but then you couldn't skip next one.
General tips for Expedition crafting
- If item is still bad after you used couple options, just take it and vendor it. You can vendor bad items into same window you buying items from.
- If you get item with good Prefixes or Suffixes, your goal is trying to keep those good Prefixes and hope for Suffix rerolls or vice versa.
- Rarely you will find good items (with good mods) from beginning, so of course pick them!
- If you got decent item but it doesn't cost enough for you bother selling it, then add Sockets, Quality (if its ES base) and Vaal, soon or later you will hit something good with Vaal Orb that will make relatively cheap item expensive.
Gwennen (Weapons)
Items to pick for crafting:
- Bows:
- Currently Bow are giga Meta, so you mostly looking for
Gemini Bow, probably taking every single one and reroll mods to get something useful.
- If you happen to get that bow with Magic rarity and high tier %Physical Damage, don't upgrade it to rare, just reroll suffix if needed/possible. Then take that Magic Bow out and use Greater Essence of Abrasion that adds decent roll of flat Physical Damage. This trick worth doing really for any Martial Weapon, as long as it's good base and it has decent %Physical Damage roll, like 130%+.
- Also you can just take out Magic rarity Bows with high %Physical Damage and sell as is if you don't want to craft it. They go from 30-40Ex for any decent base, to 70Ex+ for Gemini Bow.
- Quarterstaves, 2H Maces, Spears, Crossbows:
- Since bows are by far most popular Martial Weapon, selling those weapons might take more time, but also less people craft or pick them up so prices still are good.
- And as for bows you looking mostly for high rolls of %Physical Damage, hybrid %Physical Damage/Accuracy or flat Physical Damage.
- And like with Bows you can search any Martial Weapon with high %Physical Damage and Magic rarity to use Greater Essence of Abrasion. Then finish it with Desecrated Currency.
- Wands:
- Only if has atleast +4 Levels.
- Also can take out Magic rarity Wands with +# Levels to use Essences and Desecrated Currency.
- Staves:
- Only if has alteast +5 Levels.
- Also can take out Magic rarity Staves with +# Levels to use Essences and Desecrated Currency.
- Scepters:
- Either +4 to Minions Skills or high Spirit.
- Also can take out Magic rarity Scepters with +# Levels or high Spirit to use Essences and Desecrated Currency.
*Preferably
Omen Sceptre.
- Focus:
- High Energy Shield, or combination of %Spell + %Elemental Damage.
- Then use Perfect Essence of Sorcery to add +3 Spell Levels on Suffix.
- Quivers:
- Only if has +2 to Projectile Skills.
- 1H Maces:
- Used a bit more in 0.3 due to
Giant's Blood nerf, same stuff as for other Martial Weapons.
Tujen (Jewellery)
Items to pick for crafting:
- Amulets:
- Any amulet with +2-3 Levels.
- Any good base Amulet, so no
Crimson Amulet,
Lunar Amulet or
Azure Amulet.
- Any Rare Amulet that is not
Crimson Amulet. So you pick it and hope to get Prefix/Suffix rerolls.
- Also can take out Magic Amulet with good Modifiers like +# Levels, Spirit, Attributes, and use Essences, then Desecrated Currency.
- Rings:
- Any Rings with good base Implicit, mostly just Resists.
- Any Rings simply with good mods, like Life, Mana, Attributes, Resists, Flat Elemental Damage, etc.
- Also can take out Magic Rings if they have 2 good Modifiers, using Essence in this case is better than random Modifier from Expedition Crafting.
- Belts:
- Any Belt with good mods, Life, Mana, Strength, Resists.
- Also can take out Magic Belts with 2 good Modifiers, using Essence is better than random Modifier from Expedition Crafting.
Rog (Armor)
Currently most of build use either Energy shield bases, Evasion bases, or hybrid Evasion/Energy Shield Body Armors, so that's generally what you looking for.
But still check all armor, you might find something really good.
Of course pick up any item that is good from beginning!
Items to pick for crafting:
- Armor:
- If it's Evasion/Armor type, you mostly looking for high Resists, Attributes and Life.
- If it's Energy Shield type, you looking mainly for high Energy Shield values and good Base.
- And once again, you can take out Magic Armor with 2 good mods to use Essences.
- Shields:
- Currently only good shields are pure Armor, you looking for High Armor, Life, Resists, Block, Strength.
- And yet again, you can take out good Magic Shield with 2 good mods to use Essences.
My experience with Expedition in 0.3
Expedition wasn't changed, but with Abyss and Essence crafting, it's no longer a good way to get decent rares purely from Expedition crafting.
But Expedition is good to make Gold, too good even, you making gold by buying and selling rare items, and sometimes you find good Magic rarity bases to craft with Essence and Abyss.
Few times i found really good Rares, best sale was 22Div bow. Besides that i found dozens of good Magic items with high %Phys and other stuff, best sale was Quiver for 26Div
My experience with Expedition in 0.2
Didn't do much of it yet, around 300 Exotic Coinage spent, mostly on Gwennen because only Gwennen's currency is cheap, around 14-15 per 1ex.
Rog seems too expensive at 5 to 1ex. Tujen at 2 to 1 ex is too risky at low investment.
Gwennen:
Crafted many decent weapons in range of 20-100ex, bunch of weapons in range of 1-5Div. Some of it sold, some still listed. Already in profit while still have many items to sell.
Somehow i got 3 really crazy weapons in one day from Gwennen, two Crossbows with 850pDps, and spear with 630pDps. Already sold one of Crossbows for 32 Div.
So my current profit from Gwennen is roughtly 40-45 Div.
Rog:
Crafted couple Energy Shield items, couple good Armor Shield and Focuses. In profit as well, but it's not as good as Gwennen considering Rog currency is twice as expensive.
Tujen:
Crafted like 4 items in total, for now skipping it until i get more budget to invest to try it.
For now Gwennen is go to on low investment, Rog is decent, Tujen need good investment.
Shortly about my experience with Expedition in 0.1
- Did over 2500 rerolls with Exotic Coinage, spend roughly 40 Div in total on Expedition Currency.
- Made over 400 Div, out of which one item was sold for 180Div, it was GG Focus. So even without that jackpot item, still ~200Div profit.
- Mostly was doing Gwennen, got tons of Quarterstaves(was meta at the time), bunch of 2H Maces and few Bows, ranging from 0.5Div to 15Div.
- Slightly less of Rog, mostly Energy Shield gear, few Armor Shields.
- Least of Tujen, while crafted lots of good Rings and Amulets, fewer Belts.
When to Exalt items crafted with Expedition
- Simply when you got good Weapon with 1-2 Phys mods, and it has open prefix to potentially slam another phys mod.
- When you got Energy Shield armor piece with good ES.
- When you got any good Jewellery with good mods, like Life/Mana + Resists/Attributes.
- Or any Weapon/Armor that you think is good enough to slam. Once Exalted Orbs become cheap relative to Divine Orb, you can use them on really any remotely good item.
That's all for now, guide will be updated in future if something changes. If you find it informative, feel free to share!
