OverwatchOverwatch Ramattra Guide and Overview
Ramattra Overview
Having two separate ability kits in one hero enables
Ramattra to be highly adaptable and perform well against almost any team composition. In Omnic Form, Ram can outrange most Tanks, and with
Void Accelerator (Omnic Form), his ranged damage poses a significant threat to enemy backlines.
The core of his power lies in
Nemesis Form, where he gains bonus armor and access to
Pummel (Nemesis Form) — a hard-hitting melee projectile that pierces barriers. His playstyle revolves around chipping down enemy health and resources in Omnic Form, then transforming into Nemesis to rush down the enemy when they are most vulnerable. If the enemy team lacks stuns or knockback,
Annihilation is often a fight-winning ultimate.
TLDR
Play As
Nemesis Form is the core of your power. It enables aggression and survivability. Only activate it when enemies are already within
Pummel (Nemesis Form) range.- Save
Ravenous Vortex for
Nemesis Form to slow enemies and prevent escape. - Activate
Annihilation immediately after Nemesis ends to maximize survivability and Nemesis uptime.
Play Against
Ramattra is less tanky and less lethal in Omnic Form. After Nemesis ends, that is your window to go on the offensive.- Break line of sight (LoS) on his ultimate to end it quickly. Cutting off
Annihilation's AoE for a total of 3 seconds will immediately cancel it. - If Ram is walking toward you, expect a Vortex. Use mobility or cover before he throws it.
Strengths And Weaknesses Summarized
- High survival rate

- Hybrid hero
- Obvious cooldown rotation
- Countered by CC
- Huge Hurtbox
Strengths And Weaknesses Explained
Strengths
High survivability
Ramattra gains 300 bonus armor whenever he activates
Nemesis Form, including during his ultimate. He can block for the entire Nemesis duration and deploy a high-health barrier in Omnic Form. Combined, this gives him exceptional durability and strong stalling potential.
Good at rushing down
Nemesis Form grants bonus movement speed, and
Ravenous Vortex applies a slow, allowing Ram to effectively rush down targets. Pummel’s barrier-piercing damage secures kills once he closes the gap.
Versatile hybrid kit
Ramattra can function in brawl, rush, and poke compositions. Omnic Form pressures high ground and backlines with ranged damage, while
Nemesis Form enables frontline brawling.
Weaknesses
Obvious cooldown rotation
Ram’s use of
Nemesis Form can feel very predictable and easy to play around. When the enemy has the mobility to kite Nemesis, Ram struggles to generate value for his team.
Countered by crowd control
Anytime Ram pops Nemesis, it's like he puts on a huge, “stun me” sign. He has no way of stopping stuns like
Sleep Dart or Shatter. Also, because of the short range of
Pummel (Nemesis Form), knockback abilities shut down Nemesis just as effectively.
Giant Hurtbox with minimal shielding
Although Ram has high survivability thanks to his Block and armor, he’s also easy to turn into an ult battery. His large body allows heroes like
Freja and
Sojourn to use Ram to farm ammo for their guns. Everyone else can use him to farm ult. During Nemesis, it's open season for long-range heroes, and Omnic Form is easy for close-range heroes to aggro on.
Ramattra Ability Tips
Primary Fire: Void Accelerator
Tips for
Void Accelerator (Omnic Form)
- Poke pressure
- Before you get into
Pummel (Nemesis Form) range, you should always be poking with primary fire as much as possible.
Void Accelerator (Omnic Form) is also good for contesting high ground since you don’t have any vertical mobility.
- Before you get into
- Bait
- Use Omnic form as a way bait the enemy while saving
Nemesis Form. Once they’re approaching you, if they are investing a lot of resources like using their ults, use Vortex and shield to keep yourself protected, then use Nemesis after.
- Use Omnic form as a way bait the enemy while saving
Secondary Fire: Void Barrier
Tips for
Void Barrier (Omnic Form)
- Enable team poke
- Don’t just use Barrier selfishly; look for moments where you can create opportunities for your allies to peek and go for picks behind the protection of your Barrier.
- Cut off the enemy Tank
- Anytime an enemy
Tank is out in front of their team, deploy your Barrier behind them. They’ll be cut off from healing, and won’t have their team's damage to help pressure your team.
- Anytime an enemy
[SHIFT]: Nemesis Form
Tips for
Nemesis Form
- Respond to the enemy's offensive plays
- You can’t survive aggressive enemy attacks and dives unless you have
Nemesis Form available. When you read the enemy is trying to quickly advance on you, save
Nemesis Form until they have committed their cooldowns to the fight.
- You can’t survive aggressive enemy attacks and dives unless you have
- Enable your aggression
Nemesis Form transforms Ram into a massive walking threat. You can alternate between
Pummel (Nemesis Form) and Block to tank damage while using the increased walk speed to take space and attack the enemy's backline.
(During Nemesis Form) Primary Fire: Pummel
Tips for
Pummel (Nemesis Form)
- Counter damage mitigation
Pummel (Nemesis Form) pierces barriers and damage-absorbing abilities like
Defense Matrix and
Kinetic Grasp.- Against
Tanks who use these abilities to survive, wait until they have taken a bit of damage already, then use Nemesis
Pummel (Nemesis Form) to keep the pressure on while they’re trying to protect themselves.
- Brawl
- Whether you are dueling a
Tank, DPS or
Support,
Pummel (Nemesis Form) is how you want to brawl your targets. The repeated bursts of damage from each strike will eliminate most enemies well before they can chip away at your massive health pool.
- Whether you are dueling a
(During Nemesis Form) Secondary fire: Block
Tips for
Block (Nemesis Form)
- Stall
- Use your armor and damage reduction to
Tank enemy damage and stall objectives. In overtime, you can buy your team time to return from spawn. In the middle of fights, you can take up enemy damage and prolong fights.
- Use your armor and damage reduction to
- Time with enemy attacks
- Ram can weave in Block between Pummels against enemies with slow attack speeds like
Sigma and
Reinhardt. Block every primary fire, then
Pummel (Nemesis Form) once or twice to minimize damage taken while still getting in damage of your own.
- Ram can weave in Block between Pummels against enemies with slow attack speeds like
- Body Block
- Because you only have a single use of Barrier, the other way Ram can protect his team is by standing in front of them while holding block.
- Protect DPS during their ults, or
Supports when they're being focused.
[E]: Ravenous Vortex
Tips for
Ravenous Vortex
- Slow ‘em down
- When the enemy is trying to push up on you, slow their advance with Vortex. Buy yourself time to wait out their duration-based abilities like channeled ultimates.
- Rush down
- Use Nemesis’ movement buff to chase down your targets.
- Save Vortex for Nemesis because most heroes can’t dash out of Vortex, fliers get pulled down, and the slow effect keeps them in your Pummels.
Ultimate: Annihilation
Tips for
Annihilation
- Watch out for stuns
- During
Annihilation, the enemy knows Ram can’t use Barrier and can easily be CC’d. If you get knocked away or stunned for too long, your ult will quickly end. - If there is one enemy ability like
Sleep Dart that will shut down your ult, first use
Nemesis Form to get that ability out. Then use ult right after.
- During
- Extending the duration
- As long as at least one enemy is in the AoE of
Annihilation, the ult will not end (up to 20 seconds max). Focus on staying alive with Block, and keeping the enemy in range. - You can also activate ult in between the enemy team to force them to split up as they run away in multiple directions. Then, focus on the one closest to your team for a quick kill.
- As long as at least one enemy is in the AoE of
Perks
Minor Perks
Void Surge
- Strengthen Ram’s weakness
- The extra burst damage has more impact than it seems on paper. Also, compared to Prolonged Barrier,
Void Barrier (Omnic Form) never breaks, and an extra second will rarely make a game-changing difference. - Better damage in Omnic Form allows Ram to be more of a threat while waiting for
Nemesis Form.
- The extra burst damage has more impact than it seems on paper. Also, compared to Prolonged Barrier,
Relentless Form
- Most of Ram's value is generated while in
Nemesis Form. Being able to extend the duration is really good. You won't always be able to get an elimination, but when you do, this is a very impactful buff.
Major Perks
Nanite Repair
- Bit of extra sustain
- When inside Vortex for the full duration, Ram will heal for 150 health.
- Helpful when brawling because you can throw Vortex at your feet, and stay inside while Pummeling the enemy
Tank.
Vengeful Vortex
- Better for poke
- Being able to detonate Vortex in the air makes it easy to catch distant enemies without needing to hit a perfect placement. The 50 detonation damage also helps increase your poke lethality.
- Better rush downs
- When chasing down an enemy, shoot Vortex in front of them and detonate to force them to walk through. This makes rushing down targets notably easier.
Maps
Maps that favor close-range engagements, have smaller objective areas, and little to no high ground are best for Ram. He wants enemies to be close enough to rush them with
Nemesis Form at any moment. Also, because he has good horizontal move speed but no vertical mobility, flat ground areas enable Ram’s play style best. Maps with wide open space and long sight lines are situationally difficult for Ram, depending on the matchup.
If the enemy is running more short-range heroes and Tank, then he has the advantage, but if the enemy runs long-range or high-mobility heroes, he’s at a disadvantage. He doesn’t want to waste time trying to approach, and high ground gives the enemy an easy escape from Nemesis and his ult.

Team Comp Synergies
Team comps built around
Ramattra can follow and assist him when he goes all in during and . Because Ram gains a move speed buff and immediately becomes the focus of the enemy team, he’ll be taking a huge amount of the enemy team's damage and cooldowns.
His armor and Block help him to survive the attacks, but if he wants to get max value, he needs his team’s assistance with healing himself so he can
Pummel (Nemesis Form) and damage the enemy, so he can get the kills. His Barrier can give short windows of protection to snipers and ranged allies, but is can’t be depended on due to its long cooldown.
Anyone who can give him additional speed boosts greatly helps him in bypassing the frontline and quickly killing the squishies.

Individual synergies with other heroes
Tracer
Tracer's objective when teamed up with Ram is to take care of his strongest counter,
Ana.
Tracer ruins
Ana's day because her only hope of dealing with
Tracer is landing a difficult
Sleep Dart. If she does, then that’s Ram’s go signal for Nemesis and
Annihilation because he knows he can hold W without fear of being slept. Most of the time,
Tracer will be able to harass
Ana enough that she won’t be a problem for Ram. When they are in sync, Ram’s Vortex makes landing one-clips and
Pulse Bombs way easier for
Tracer.
Juno
Hyper Ring is the main reason Ram wants
Juno on his team. Ram doesn’t constant speed boost, he just needs the extra speed at the exact moment he’s trying to rush in.
Juno can just save
Hyper Ring for everytime Ram runs in, and he’ll run over everyone. Compared to Lucio, she also has a much easier time healing and keeping Ram alive.
Kiriko
- Ram is susceptible to debuff effects, knockback, and stuns. Suzu can counter all of these and enable Ram to play into his counters with great success. Nemesis inside of
Kitsune Rush also feels like having a 2nd ult for Ram. Faster walking and attacking speed means the enemy is forced to try and escape, so it's a deadly combination when both teams need to contest the objective area.
How to Counter Ramattra
General Mentality Against Ramattra
- Track Nemesis timing and punish him during his less threatening Omnic Form.
- Save mobility for dodging Vortex. If you are already in Vortex, don't use your mobility abilities until you've escaped.
- Break LoS during
Annihilation. If you can't escape, barriers also count as breaking LoS so hold the barrier until the duration expires.
