Overview

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales has finally released, so we're here to share some beginner tips and tricks to help guide your early experience.

If you're only just hearing about the game now, be sure to check out our first impressions from the Prologue Demo to get a quick idea of what to expect.

We'll be adding many more tips and tricks to the list, so be sure to check back again soon!

Don't Ignore Breakable Objects

While you're adventuring throughout the land, be sure to take the time to occasionally smash things in the environment. Breaking barrels, cracking vases, and cutting through the grass, is a reliable way to heal yourself after taking damage (and find a bit of Tul).

Hold Shield While Attacking

An easy way to play defensively in the beginning is to hold down the Shield button and attack at the same time. While not necessarily optimal in the long run, it can simplify your early combat experience as you get a better feel for the mechanics.

Weave Attacks Between Both Weapons

Elliot has multiple weapons at his disposal, giving him a combination of melee and ranged attacks. By utilizing them effectively, you can weave them together to maximize your damage output.

For example, you can throw out your Boomerang first, then immediately strike with your Sword. That way you're able to continue attacking simultaneously (it's even better with a Charged Boomerang throw).

The game also encourages this through its Magicite System. As you can see below, "Weapon Shift — Airborne" actually increases the Critical-Hit Rate of other weapons while the Boomerang is in the air.

Of course, we're only just scratching the surface with this example, so be sure to experiment and look for unique combos of your own!

Avoid Getting Hit to Max Drop Bonus

Avoiding damage may sound obvious, but making an extra effort to not get hit is a good habit to get into. When you defeat enemies consecutively without being harmed, you'll build up a Drop Bonus that will increase the amount of loot you receive.

Drop Bonus Tiers

  • 1-Star = Defeat 5 Enemies
  • 2-Star = Defeat 15 Enemies
  • 3-Star = Defeat 30 Enemies

This is an important way to farm more Tul throughout your adventures, so pay attention and try to learn enemy attack patterns. Falling off the edge will also break the chain; watch your step!

If you need a little extra assistance, the Lotus Chain accessory will give you a one-hit buffer to protect your chain. Additionally, the effect will reset once you hit 2-Star or 3-Star, allowing you to continue forward with an extra safety net at each interval.

The Lotus Chain is obtained as a reward for completing the "Blow Your Trouble Away" side quest.

Talk to NPCs Regularly

While you may be eager to race towards the next dungeon, if you can spare a moment, take the time to speak with various NPCs (beyond Quest givers and story-related content).

There are a number of seemingly ordinary NPCs that will actually reward you throughout the adventure, so it can be worth checking any fresh white bubbles.

Completing certain parts of the story can update existing dialogue, so even those that you've spoken with may have something else to say (or give). The Tavern is a great place to check in on, as there's a good chance you'll encounter familiar faces from your travels.

Explore the Fog of War

The map is full of unexplored destinations both large and small, many of which contain useful rewards. We highly recommend traveling off the beaten path and exploring every nook and cranny, because if it's accessible, chances are there's something exciting around the corner!

Keep Big Purchases in Mind

Certain items such as accessories can provide powerful benefits to aid your adventure. However, they often don't come cheap. While you're out exploring, make a mental note of the things you'd like to save for, so that way you can budget accordingly (consumables etc.).

Look Out for Jewelries

Jewelries are a rare type of monster that drop Tul every time you hit them. Unlike other enemies they are extremely timid and will run away from you, so do your best to strike as many times as you can.

If you're unable to defeat it fast enough the Jewelrie will eventually disappear. However, you'll still be able to collect all the Tul that was dropped in the meantime.

Early on they'll be tough to crack through, but after acquiring more Magicite options, you should have a much better chance at depleting them.
