Subnautica 2: How to Get Lithium
Everything You Need to Know About Lithium
Where to find Lithium
Lithium is not found in the starting areas of Subnautica 2. Instead, players must venture deep into hot areas to get their hands on this essential ore. Lithium is used for some key gear and crafting materials, so players will have to gather Lithium to advance their playthrough.
Best Lithium Location
Lithium spawns in areas near the Cicada Wreck (Empty Hold), 400 meters East of the Lifepod, and near the Hot Cave Basecamp, 450 meters South-East of the Lifepod. These areas have several challenges that players must overcome before getting their hands on the mineral:
- Extreme Heat: To overcome the high temperatures, players will need to get the Angel Comb adaptation first.
- Depth: Lithium shows up in caves below 200 meters, so players must have high oxygen supplies or a Tadpole vehicle to venture this deep.
- Big Ore Veins: Lithium is always found as big ore veins, which require the Sonic Resonator to be broken. Players can't gather Lithium with their bare hands.
Lithium has an orange hue that turns purple near its base, making it similar to Lead. The two are distinguishable by their shape: Lead has blocky and structured formations, whereas Lithium is irregular and has rectangular shapes.

Use Lithium to have Infinite Oxygen
The Portable Oxygen Generator is a key tool in Subnautica 2. It provides players with a constant Oxygen supply as long as it's powered up by a Battery. The Portable Oxygen Generator is indispensable for deep dives in the hardest Subnautica 2 areas, where there are no other Oxygen sources around.
