Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced - Fleet Missions Explained

Overview

Despite fleet missions being one of the only true methods for passive income in Resynced, you may find yourself lost as you try to figure it all out. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how they work, and how to use them to make some Reales easily.

Fleet Missions Explained

What Are Fleet Missions?

These missions are your way of putting seized ships to good use while you’re out exploring and adventuring. Every time you clear a fort in Resynced, you’re opening up space for your fleets to carry out missions, for which you’ll be rewarded handsomely.

To access fleet missions, you’ll need to have completed “This Old Cove” during sequence 4 of the main story. Once done, you can head into the room just below the main deck of your Jackdaw and access fleet missions directly via the planning table when you walk inside.

It should be noted, however, that fleet missions will require a somewhat disposable income of both resources and physical ships you’ve gathered out on the open sea. Luckily for you, obtaining ships is rather simple. When you are done with the boarding process of a ship, you’ll be given multiple options on what you wish to do with it. The option you’ll need to select for these missions is “Send to Kenway’s Fleet,” which will add the ship in question to your collection to be used at any time.

There are, however, some caveats to this, which are important to be aware of. Firstly, you don’t just want to capture every schooner or brig you see, as not all ships will be fit for the same missions. Secondly, you cannot store an infinite supply of ships in your fleet. You have a capacity, and in order to expand it, you’ll need to either pay Reales to increase the berth size or complete various prerequisites for each slot.

How To Start A Fleet Mission

Once you have a decent-sized fleet with a variety of ships, head to the mission tab on the fleet planning table. Look for any silver pieces on the map, as these indicate available missions. Each mission has a different theme, ranging from piracy to trade. Rewards vary, including Reales, reduced risk in specific fleet zones, and trade goods like spices and sugar.

If you have multiple ships suitable for a mission, you can choose which one to send. Not all ships are the right choice, and they will take damage, increasing risk. Some fleet missions require specific trade goods to start, such as wine or sugar. This is where Kenway’s fleet becomes a give-and-take system. You’ll make resources by doing missions, but you’ll also need to spend some to begin them.

After sending said ships out, you can continue exploring the open world. You’ll get a pop-up when your fleets return, so you can go back to the table and claim your rewards.

Assessing The Damage

As previously mentioned, each mission carries individual risks you’ll need to manage as captain of the Jackdaw. Not all missions will succeed, though. Some may destroy the ships you sent out. Others might be more successful, but you’ll still need to look after your fleet regardless.

In your fleet tab, you’ll see that most ships sent out will likely have suffered hull damage. You have two choices as captain: salvage the ship for a small amount of resources, or repair it. Repairing costs resources from your own supply, but reliable, valuable ships deserve that treatment if fleet missions are your focus.

From our experience, it’s often best to salvage smaller, more common ships. It’s usually faster and cheaper to find replacements at sea than to repair them. Remember, your fleet doesn’t have to stagnate or constantly change. How you manage it depends on the types of missions you send your crews on and how frequently.
