Monster Hunter Wilds Release Date, Times, & Free Updates

Monster Hunter Wilds is set to release on February 28th, 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam).

Wilds marks the start of the 6th generation of titles for Monster Hunter, a franchise that started over 20 years ago in 2004 with the first Monster Hunter game.

You can tell Wilds marks the 6th generation based on the logo, which shows 6 wyvern heads. (Two down the middle and 2 on each side)

Specific Release Time

Something to note is that Steam and Console versions will have a slightly different release time. Steam will release at the same time across regions, while Console will have a staggered release based on your time zone.

Console Release Time

Console Versions of Monster Hunter Wilds will release staggered at
12:00 AM, February 28, 2025 (Local Time)

Regardless of your time zone, console versions should release at midnight local time.

This means that for some regions (Like US West Coast), the game will release on Steam before console, but most other regions will be opposite.

You may also be able to adjust the time on your console to play earlier (unconfirmed and may be against ToS).

From the latest trailer, Capcom has shown their plans for free updates to come to Monster Hunter Wilds.

The first update will happen sometime in Spring, feature an additional monster, Mizutsune, Event Quests, and more.

The second update will come in Summer and feature another monster fight as well as more Event Quests.

Mizutsune

Mizutsune is not a brand new monster, as it was initially released in the 4th generation of Monster Hunter titles.

However, the Spring Update will feature Mizutsune as an additional fightable monster in Wilds.

Spring generally refers to March, April, and May. With Wilds releasing the last day before March, this Spring Update likely won't happen until late April or May, but time will tell.
