How to Co-op Story Mode (Easy Explanation)

Monster Hunter Wilds can be overwhelming with all its systems and for some reason, playing co-op with your friends is especially hard to understand at first.

So for the sake of simplicity, we're going to keep this guide as straightforward as possible (leaving things like Squads out of it).

Here's how to play the Monster Hunter Wilds story mode along with your friends.

Step #1: Add Your Friends to A Link

Press START, and then find the Communication Tab (it's the fourth option).

Then go to an Invite a Friend, and invite up to 3 other friends for 4 total Link members.

When they successfully join, you'll be able to see them in your Link Party list.

Step #2: Start your quest at the same time

This step is very important as it will help reduce the wait times between fights.

Get on the same page with your party members as far as when everyone is prepped and ready for the next mission.

Have an understanding about whether you are going to let the cutscenes fully play out, or if you want to click through or skip them altogether.

When ready, position at the beginning of the next quest and count down (3...2...1...) to click begin it at the same time.

Step #3: Whoever finishes the cutscene first invites the rest automatically

When the cutscene finishes, the player who loads in first will automatically send invites to the other players.

During this time, it's up to your party on whether that player should try to stall until the other players arrive, or fight the monster until they do arrive.

Step #4: Everyone else accepts invite and Seikrets to the monster ASAP

The rest of the players will receive quest invitations. They should hold down the START button to see their invites.

Unfortunately, they will be transported back to base camp and will have to ride their Seikret back to the fight.

Unless you're familiar with the map and know short cuts, activate your Seikret's autopilot with (UP-PAD) to get there efficiently.
