MH Wilds August Update: 9 Star Monsters & Appraised Talismans

Update Schedule: August Update - Title Update 3 - Title Update 4

In a recent letter from Director Tokuda, we've gotten some new on the new updates coming to Monster Hunter Wilds.

Ver.1.021, a smaller update coming on August 13th, originally was slated for Weapon Balance Adjustments and other improvements such as optimization/bugs.

However, this August Update for MH Wilds will also introduce two new endgame systems:

  • 9 Star Difficulty Monsters
  • New Appraised Talismans

more info on these systems below

From there, we see that the next two major updates will be Title Update 3 releasing end of September, and Title Update 4 releasing sometime this upcoming winter.

New 9 Star Monster Difficulties

The wording from the letter is a bit ambiguous (likely due to translation), but we do know that "9 star tempered monsters" are coming to the game.

"Starting with Ver. 1.021, Tempered Monsters (9★) of nine monster species will begin appearing in locales.
Following that, our third title update in late September will see additional 9★ monsters appear in event quests."

With this wording, it sounds like all of these monsters will come during the August update in the wild. (And you can save them as investigations to hunt)

However, the wording of "in late September will see additional 9★ monsters" is unclear whether it means even more monsters will come as 9 star, if all of them will get event quests, or if only some will be available in August, and the rest in Title Update 3.

Either way, starting August 13th, players will be able to find 9 star monsters in the wild. For reference, the recent Arch-Tempered monsters (Rey Dau and Uth Duna) were 8 star quests.

Appraised Talismans

You may notice that the image above shows a reward type that's new. These are Glowing Stones, which can be used to transform into "Appraised Talismans." Right now, there are Talismans in the game like Exploiter Charm II, Challenger Charm II, etc. These Appraised Talismans can reveal random skills from both Weapon and Armor skills. They can also have decoration slots.

This opens up quite a bit in terms build diversity. If these Talismans are difficult to obtain "perfect" versions, then players will need to scrap together the best build with what they have.

As we learn more about the possible Talismans, we'll be sure to update our featured builds. You can also check out community builds made from regular users sharing their creations.
