Ambessa Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths

She can isolate and take down champions in team fights with her Ultimate. Taking down a carry or somebody straight away can win your team the team fight.

Ambessa has a ton of all-in potential and can snowball by getting a few early kills. She can solo carry games which is important for Solo Queue.

Unlike some champions in LoL, she isn’t basic! This means you can play her over and over and not get bored!

Weaknesses

It can be difficult to play versus enemies that understand wave management. She needs to all-in champions, so if they freeze, you’re really limited in what you can do. Similarly, if you do not understand wave management and keep pushing- you will be unable to utilize her kit effectively.

She can be really difficult to play. If you want to master her, you’re going to put in a lot of games to pick her up and play her effectively. It might be easier to pick a champion who isn’t too mechanically challenging.

When you press R and go in, you’re going to be really vulnerable. It is important that you only go in when your team can follow up, or else you’ll get 5 people on you alone.

Game plan
Early game
0 - 15 min
Ambessa is Average

In the early game, make sure you keep the minion wave closer to your side of the map. This will protect you against all-ins, while also enabling you to freeze, zone the enemy away from farm and also chase them down the long lane.

You have CC and strong all-in built into your kit. You need to capitalize on this by looking to make plays with your Jungler in your lane. Get a kill on your opponent and then try to get the objective nearby.

If you’re behind and can’t really do much in the lane, you should look to roam Mid and use your Ultimate on the enemy Mid Laner. If you can, try to have the wave pushing toward your mid so you can Ult them towards your Mid Laner and not away from them.

Mid game
15 - 25 min
Ambessa is Average

In the mid-game, you can look to split push and apply pressure around the map. You should look to do this if you’re stronger than the enemy team. Look to push at the same time as your allies to spread the enemy team thin.

In team fights, try to line up your ADC with the enemy ADC, Mid or (squishy) Support. Taking down one champion with the help of your allies will make the team fight much easier. However, before going in, ensure your allies are around to go in with you, or else you’ll get blown up and die for nothing.

Don’t forget about farming! You must find a healthy balance between farming side lanes and team fighting with your team.

Late game
25+ min
Ambessa is Average

In the late game, ensure you’re not wandering too far away from your team. If you get taken down, then the enemy could potentially end. Similarly, grouping with your team is essential as you might be able to get picks and finish the game.

Look for picks on enemies who are isolated or have walked too far away from their team. If you see an enemy split pushing and you’re not nearby, you could simply press R and engage while your team has the numbers advantage.

Soak damage for your team in team fights. You will be extremely tanky at this game stage, so you can tank a lot of damage for your team.

Power Spikes
Early game0 - 15 min

At level 3, and 4, she will have access to all her abilities. During this time, you need to play aggressive and look for those early skirmishes with your opponent.

The next power spike for Ambessa is when she has her Ultimate at level 6. While it may not be the strongest ability in 1v1s, it can still be useful to get kills.

Naturally, when you’ve completed your first component or full item, your damage output will intensify dramatically.

Mid game15 - 25 min

At level 9, Ambessa will make out her first ability. Your Q will deal quite a lot of damage during skirmishes and trades, especially if you have an item or level advantage.

At level 11, you’ll put an additional point in your Ultimate. At this stage of the game, if you’re not already, you should be looking to group and make use of your Ultimate in team fights.

During this stage of the game, you would of completed at least 2 items. Make sure you’re playing aggressive, split pushing and applying pressure, but don’t forget to group if your team needs you.

Late game25+ min

In the late game, Ambessa should be near full build. When you’re full build, you can deal a lot of damage and soak up a lot of damage too. Make sure you’re actively looking to make plays with your teammates.

If you’re behind in the late game, you can adjust your build path accordingly to help you survive against hard teams where you will get blown up by the carries. Opt for some late game defensive items if need be.

At level 16, Ambessa will put her third and final point in her Ultimate. You should now actively look for all-ins with your team on the enemy when the enemy carry is isolated or on their own and away from their team.
