DeadlockDeadlock Haze Guide and Overview
In this Deadlock Haze guide, you’ll learn the fundamentals of his abilities, unique play styles, and fundamental tips.
Deadlock Haze Overview
Haze is the stealth-based hero of Deadlock, with the usual Rogue-esque playstyle of isolating targets, attacking from key angles from stealth, or causing havoc with enemies trying to track you.
On top of these aspects, she also has what is essentially Reaper’s ult from Overwatch, offering a ton of AoE team fight damage with Bullet Dance.
Deadlock Haze Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
Absolutely shreds through enemies when fed.
Can safely navigate the map to scout or stalk opponents with invisibility.
Smoke Bomb + Sleep Dagger is an easy-to-execute single target engage for picks.
Weaknesses
Struggles if she falls behind, only utility is Sleep Dagger.
Ultimate can be interrupted by items like Knockdown and Curse.
Lacks mobility, Smoke Bomb isn’t the best escape against good players.
Deadlock Haze Abilities
Underlined = Scales with Spirit
Sleep Dagger (1) | ||
---|---|---|
Throw a dagger that damages and sleeps the target. Sleeping targets wake up shortly after being damaged. Throwing a dagger does not break your invisibility. Sleep Dagger does not interrupt enemies' channeling abilities. | ||
Sleep Status Effect | 70 Damage | 26s Cooldown |
0.2s Min Sleep Time | 0.1s Wake Up Time | 3s Sleep Duration |
Sleep Dagger Upgrades | ||
---|---|---|
1 AP | 2 AP | 5 AP |
Removes 1 stamina | -13s Cooldown | Applies -12% Bullet Resist for 6s on wake-up. Also causes targets to wake up with -40% Fire Rate. |
Maxing Sleep Dagger makes it easier to kill targets by reducing their Stamina (escape potential) and Bullet Resist, and lets you spam it more often with reduced cooldown.
Tips for Sleep Dagger
In situations where you’re against an isolated target, take the time to get closer and position after a Sleep Dagger lands before you fire at them. This will help you get more headshots and maximize your damage and kill potential.
Smoke Bomb (2) | ||
---|---|---|
Fade out of sight, becoming invisible and gaining sprint speed. Attacking removes invisibility. Close enemies can see through your invisibility. | ||
8s Duration | Invisible Status Effect | 30s Cooldown |
18m Spot Radius | 1.5s Fade Time | +2m/s Sprint Speed |
Smoke Bomb Upgrades | ||
---|---|---|
1 AP | 2 AP | 5 AP |
-15s Cooldown | +15% Bullet Lifesteal for 8s | Phases Out for 0.5s on cast and enables charges with 10s charge time |
Maxing Smoke Bomb almost halves its cooldown, provides additional Sprint Speed when Invisible, and grants you Bullet Lifesteal.
Tips for Smoke Bomb
Learning how to maximize the fundamental movement options like Slides, Dashes, Dash Jumps is helpful for any Deadlock hero but is particularly crucial for Haze players.
Experienced enemy players will be good at predicting your movement into invisibility so knowing how to mixup your movement until you’re safe will greatly improve your survivability.
Fixation (3) | ||
---|---|---|
Shooting a target increases your bullet damage on that target. Gain one stack per bullet hit, two if the hit is a headshot. | ||
6s Duration | +0.2 per stack Weapon Damage | 40 Max Stacks |
Hook Upgrades | ||
---|---|---|
1 AP | 2 AP | 5 AP |
60 Spirit damage and 15% slow for 2s to target every 20 stacks | +40 Max Stacks and +5s Duration | +0.15 per stack Weapon Damage |
Maxing Fixation makes your left-click primary fire absolutely monstrous with upgraded stacks that add Spirit damage, slow, max stacks, duration, and more Weapon damage per stack.
Tips for Fixation
Different characters have different head sizes and shapes - some easier than others For example, did you know that Mo And Krill have two heads that proc headshots?
Make sure to factor that in when taking aim as it’s better to hit a body shot over trying to hit a headshot and missing completely.
Bullet Dance (4) | ||
---|---|---|
Enter a flurry, firing your weapon at nearby enemies with perfect accuracy. During the flurry, Haze gains a fire rate bonus and will evade some of the bullets shot at her. | ||
3s Channel Time | 15m Range | 138s Cooldown |
+2 Weapon Damage | 2 Targets Hit Per Shot |
Bullet Dance Upgrades | ||
---|---|---|
1 AP | 2 AP | 5 AP |
+7 Spirit Damage | -40s Cooldown | +40 Evasion, +2 Bullet Dance Speed |
Maxing Bullet Dance increases its damage output and lets you cast it more often.
Tips for Bullet Dance
Unstoppable is a crucial late-game buy to make sure your Bullet Dance gets off consistently
Flanking with this ult from invisibility can devastate enemy teams that aren’t ready or are distracted by your team

How to Counter Haze
Haze has a weak laning phase, so look to bully her in the early game.
Be careful pushing your lane hard if she hasn't shown on the map, have an exit plan or proceed with an ally nearby.
Keep an eye on her itemization and change your gameplan if she builds choices like Unstoppable.
