Ubisoft used its Opening Night Live slot to unveil Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Tactics, a single-player, turn-based tactical game set in the Rainbow Six universe. It's a slight departure in genres for the franchise, developed by Ubisoft Paris and confirmed for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Ubisoft Connect, Steam, Epic Games Store), Ubisoft+, GeForce Now, and Blacknut.

For the first time in the series you play as Six, commander of the Rainbow unit, running the whole show from the top down. That means assembling squads of up to four operators, planning assignments from HQ, and then sending your team into the field to execute.
The story runs alongside the existing Rainbow Six Siege timeline. A new global threat is forcing Team Rainbow to think bigger than single ops, which is presumably the excuse for handing players the command chair.

The game splits into two halves that feed into each other. At HQ, you're assessing intel, assigning operators to missions, and upgrading your base. Once you deploy, combat shifts to turn-based encounters where you're combining operator abilities, gadgets, and reconnaissance tools to get through each objective.
Finish the mission and you're back at HQ, training your squad and prepping for the next one. It's a formula that has had wild success in the likes of XCOM.

The operator roster is pulled straight from Rainbow Six Siege, with 15 available at launch. Each one keeps their unique gadgets and abilities, but now comes with a full skill tree to build out, so squad composition becomes as much a puzzle as the missions themselves.
The campaign covers dozens of missions across global locations, mixing hostage rescues, bomb disposal, and target eliminations. Destructible environments carry over too. Breaching walls opens new sightlines, strips away enemy cover, and creates entry points that didn't exist a turn ago.

The standout addition is Breach, a synchronised assault that snaps the game out of its turn-based structure entirely. When you trigger it, every operator in your squad acts at once, storming a room in the kind of chaotic, coordinated hit Rainbow Six built its reputation on.
Ubisoft hasn't set a launch date yet. Rainbow Six Tactics is available to wishlist now on PC (Ubisoft Connect, Steam, Epic Games Store), PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, with Ubisoft+, GeForce Now, and Blacknut versions confirmed for launch.
A closed test has been announced which players may sign up for here.
