Progression is a major part of Halloween: The Game, allowing you to enhance your gameplay in a multitude of fun and interesting ways. You can do everything from changing your glasses, to changing the murder weapon you take out residents with. Let's go over everything you need to know before jumping in to Haddonfield for the very first time!
Overview
Player Progression Breakdown
By playing either the single player mode, or the multiplayer mode, you'll earn experience points which can be used in 4 different categories. Here is a short overview of every category, and what they are in relation to:
- Profile Level - Encompasses all experience gained, regardless of which role you decide to play in-game.
- Killer Level - Earned by becoming the killer in matches, and terrorizing the civilians of Haddonfield.
- Civilian Level - Specifically tied to each unique playable civilian character in the game.
- Weapon Level - Earned by taking out victims with specific weapons as Michael.
By gaining levels in each specific categories you can expect to unlock various bonuses such as: additional playable civilians, new Michael abilities, new starting items for civilians, cosmetic rewards, new tiers of challenges, executions, and MORE!

If you reach a high enough level in any of the categories mentioned, you'll have the option to Prestige. This will unlock a variety of bonuses, of which we previously mentioned above. You'll also be tasked with a prestige challenge, allowing you to earn further rewards in-game.

Challenges Explained
The game also features a mountain of challenges to complete in each of the respective categories. The types of challenges are divided into their own sub-categories depending on what the game will ask of you, depending on the situation.
Passive challenges are automatically tracked for you, so you don't need to worry about not completing one because it wasn't selected. Think of them more as lifetime progression goals as you play through the game. An example of this is a challenge asking you to get over 200 Grabs as Michael. Certainly not something you'll do in one sitting...

As for Progressive challenges, these can only be completed on certain characters in the game. Unlike the passive category, these are sequentially completed, rather than all being active at once. That means to complete the fifth challenge in a lineup, you'll need to complete the prior challenges first.

Lastly, the singleplayer mode will come with its own set of optional challenges to be completed at your own pace. When completing them, you'll unlock unique customization options for various characters across the game.

Player Customization Overview
Provided you're unlocking enough player progression levels and completing challenges in the game, you can unlock a massive array of options for customizing both Michael, and Civilians.
Michael Overview:
Michael's loadout comes equipped with two starting traits, of which you can find explained below.
- Shape Jump - Extremely powerful traversal ability used to slip in and out of the shadows undetected. Gives access to shape dash and helpful visual tracking aides, but can only be used when out of sight and light.
- Killer Sense - Enter the mask in first person to stalk victims with precision and scan for noise pings generated in the environment.
You can also select up to 3 special abilities on Michael to use in the game. These are more offensive, powerful tools for Michael to use to bring games to an end faster.

Civilian Overview:
Civilians come with their own set of unique stats, and traits which can be used to aid in their survival. You can also select from an array of starting factors such as your overall appearance, unique starting item, and the perk deck.
You'll also have the ability to create your own profile card combination, with a variety of icons and banners earned through the many challenges you can complete inside of the game. You can also select a profile title: a unique tagline underneath your name, for all players to see.

How Do Perk Cards work?
When completing a game of Halloween, you'll receive a bundle of Perk Points, which can be used to roll for random perk cards. You can use these perk cards to provide yourself with a varying amount of boosts within matches.
Perks also come with an overall quality level, boosting their overall buff strength. You can optionally choose to spend additional perk points before rolling the cards, for a higher chance at greater quality perks.

Once you've got your hands on a wide selection of cards, you can construct your very own perk deck, which can then be selected in your civilian loadout. Pickable perks from your loadout will roll randomly in actual games, meaning no game ever plays out exactly the same.
If you're struggling to get higher rarity perk cards but have spare perk points to spend, you can temporarily upgrade specific cards using points. This will boost their overall rarity, but only for a select amount of matches played.
