Overview

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered features a variety of witems that can either complement your build to a degree, or are an insane choice standalone without needing to build into them. In this list we will go over the best weapons, armor sets, potions and decoctions to help you kill the toughest opponents!

Best Weapons

Gesheft

  • There are two versions of this Silver Sword in the game, and we will be talking about the Craftable variant.
  • You can find the Diagram for it in a Monster's Den north to the Mont Crane Castle in Toussaint. The level requirement to use this sword is 45.
  • Its special effects are:
    - +30% Aard Sign intensity
    - +100% Critical Hit damage
    - +15% Chance to apply poison
    - +5% Bonus experience from killing monsters.

Aerondight

  • You can get this Silver Sword after completing a Side Quest "There Can Be Only One" in Blood And Wine expansion. The level requirement to use this sword is 35.
  • Its special effects are:
    -Every time you strike an enemy, the sword increases its damage by 10% and additionally generates charges. Charges are lost over time or when Geralt gets damages. Once you fully charge the sword, it always deals critical hit damage.
    -Once you kill an enemy with a fully charged sword, it will permanently increase the damage dealt, meaning you do not have to worry about the sword being too low level for your character
  • This Sword cannot be crafted.

Moonblade

  • You can get this Silver Sword in a multiple different ways, with those being:
    -Defeating Mad Kiyan during the Scavenger Hunt for the Cat School Gear.
    -Completing a "Tower Outta Nowhere" Side Quest.
    -Collecting it from the Spoils of War south of Swamp Bint Harbor in Velen.
  • Its special effects are:
    - +5% Yrden Sign intensity
    - +15% Critical Hit damage
    - 1% Chance to freeze an enemy
  • This Sword cannot be crafted.

Iris

  • You can get this Steel Sword by siding with Olgierd Von Everec during the "Whatever a Man Soweth" Main Quest in Hearts Of Stone expansion. The level requirement to use this sword is 37.
  • Its special effects are:
    -Every time you strike an enemy using fast attacks, the weapon will glow red. After using a strong attack during that period, the sword will deal devastating damage to the enemy, as well as it will bypass any blocks by an enemy. All at a cost of 15% of Geralts health.
    -Additionally, the sword has a AOE knockdown effect after using the strong charged attack.
  • This Sword cannot be crafted

Any Witcher School

  • Equipping a full Armor set as well as both Swords from the same Witcher School set, will grant Geralt a lot of bonuses. Althought Witcher Schools armor sets and swords are good on each own, the best practice is to use them in conjunction, as well as to match your School gear with the build you are currently using.

Griffin School Bonus

  • Bonus for 3 pieces: After using Stamina to cast a Sign in its standard mode, the next Sign cast within 3 seconds will be cast in standard mode without using Stamina.
  • Bonus for 6 pieces: The size of Yrden traps is increased by 40%. While you are in the Yrden trap, Stamina regeneration is increased by 5 per second, sign intensity is increasaed by 100%, and the damage Geralt takes is reduced by 20%.

Ursine School Bonus

  • Bonus for 3 pieces: When a Quen shield shatters, there is a chance a new one will be cast at no Stamina cost. The bonus increases by 5% for each piece of the set. At 6 pieces reaching a max of 30% chance.
  • Bonus for 6 pieces: Damage dealt by Abilities involving the Quen Sign is increased by 200%.

Wolven School Bonus

  • Bonus for 3 pieces: Each instance of Bleed applied to enemies increases sword damage by 1% for each piece of the set.
  • Bonus for 6 pieces: Each Adrenaline Point increases the possible number of Bleed effects that can be applied to a single enemy.

Manticore School Bonus

  • Bonus for 3 pieces: Critical hit chance and critical hit damage also apply to bombs. Bombs are thrown without any delay.
  • Bonus for 6 pieces: The maximum number of charges for each alchemy item is increased by 1.

Forgotten Wolven School Bonus

  • Bonus for 3 pieces: Increases the duration of potions. The bonus increases by 7% for each piece of the set.
  • Bonus for 6 pieces: Aard deals 10% additional damage to enemies affected by Yrden.

Feline School Bonus

  • Bonus for 3 pieces: Strong Attacks increase Fast Attack damage for 5 seconds by 10% for each piece of the set.
  • Bonus for 6 pieces: Rear attacks deal 50% more damage, and also stun the opponent at the cost of 1 Adrenaline Point.

Best Potions

Superior Thunderbolt

  • In its Superior version, Geralt gets 35% Attack power, adding onto that, Geralt gains 100% Critical Hit Chance during storms.
  • The formula for it can be bought from these merchants from level 23:
    -Gremist (Skellige Islands)
    -Yolar (Skellige Islands)
    -Every Alchamist and Herbalist in Toussaint (not counting Pinastri)
  • Toxicity: 25
  • Duration: 90s
  • Charges: 5

Superior Blizzard

  • In its Superior version, the time slows down by 40% after killing an enemy and if you have 3 Adrenaline Points available, after killing an enemy, your actions will not deplete Stamina.
  • The formula for it can be bought from these merchants from level 21:
    -Gremist (Skellige Islands)
    -Yolar (Skellige Islands)
    -Every Alchemist and Herbalist in Toussaint (not counting Pinastri)
  • Toxicity: 20
  • Duration: 12s
  • Charges: 4

Superior Tawny Owl

  • In its Superior version, the Stamina regeneration is extented, and it never expires at night.
  • The formula for it can be bought from these merchants from level 17:
    -Gremist (Skellige Islands)
    -Yolar (Skellige Islands)
    -Every Alchamist and Herbalist in Toussaint (not counting Pinastri)
  • Toxicity: 20
  • Duration: 60s
  • Charges: 5

Superior Swallow

  • In its Superior version the effect of Vitality regeneration is not paused after taking damage, so you can use it in combat to heal.
  • The formula for it can be bought from these merchants from level 17:
    -Gremist (Skellige Islands)
    -Yolar (Skellige Islands)
    -Every Alchemist and Herbalist in Toussaint (not counting Pinastri)
  • Toxicity: 20
  • Duration: 20s
  • Charges: 5

Superior Petri Philter

  • In its Superior version the effect of increasing the Sign Intensity is very nice, however, always applying the sign's special effect is what you are after. If you have a sign build, this potion is a must-have.
  • The formula for it can be bought from these merchants from level 18:
    -Gremist (Skellige Islands)
    -Yolar (Skellige Islands)
    -Every Alchemist and Herbalist in Toussaint (not counting Pinastri)
  • Toxicity: 25
  • Duration: 90s
  • Charges: 5

Best Decoctions

Ekhidna

  • Performing actions that would otherwise consume Stamina, now regenerate Vitality.
  • The formula for it can be bought from these merchants:
    -Yolar (Skellige Islands)
    -Every Herbalist in Toussaint (not counting Pinastri)
  • Toxicity: 70
  • Duration: 1800s
  • Charges: 1
  • Has a very nice combo with the Archgriffin Decoction, every time you hit an enemy with a strong attack, Geralt heals for a big chunk of Vitality.

Reliever

  • After using Yrden or Moon Dust on a specter, this Decoction will prevent specters from turning immaterial and from using its abilities, making it super good against Specters.
    Other effects include:
    - Increased damage dealt and decreases damage taken against Wraighs.
    - +10% Attack power against Specters.
    - +15% Resistance to slashing damage.
    - +15% Resistasnce to piercing damage.
    - +15% Resistance to bludgeoning damage from monsters.
    - +15% Resisatnce to elemental damage.
  • The formula for it can be bought from these merchants:

    -Every Herbalist in Toussaint (not counting Pinastri)
    -Herbalist in Heddel
    -Herbalist in Hierarch Square
  • Toxicity: 50
  • Duration: 1800s
  • Charges: 1

Succubus

  • Attack power of Geralt rises over the course of a fight until reaching a maxim threshold of 30%. With each hit you raise your attack power by 1%.
  • The formula for it can be bought from these merchants:
    -Yolar (Skellige Islands)
    -Herbalist at Kaer Trolde Harbor
    -Every Herbalist in Toussaint (not counting Pinastri)

Archgriffin

  • When Stamina is available, strong attacks consume it all and reduce the enemy's Vitality by 5%. You should use it when bosses have huge amounts of HP, as it is the best way of killing them.
  • The formula for it can be bought from these merchants:
    -Yolar (Skellige Islands)
    -Every Herbalist in Toussaint (not counting Pinastri)
    -Herbalist in the Druids' Camp
    -Herbalist at the Ruined Inn
  • Toxicity: 50
  • Duration: 1800s
  • Charges: 1

Troll

  • It regenerates Vitality during and outside of combat. You get 20 Vitality regeneration per enemy killed during combat.
  • The formula for it can be bought from these merchants:
    -Tomira (White Orchard)
    -Yolar (Skellige Islands)
    -Every Herbalist in Toussaint (not counting Pinastri)
  • Toxicity: 50
  • Duration: 1800s
  • Charges: 1
