In this guide we'll go over some key pointers that will help you progress much faster through the opening hours of the game and beyond.
As you try to level up in the game, you may quickly come to realize that one of the biggest struggles is getting higher rarity items to drop. The game does have a way to make this slightly easier though, and it comes in the form of combining.
To do it, all you need to do is open the blacksmithing tab (3rd button in the bottom bar) and fill up the circle with 6 of the same rarity items. You can combine pretty much anything in the game, from armor to weapons. Successfully combining will present you with a new item of the next rarity above the combined items, handy for progression.
What the game doesn't tell you is that you can entirely automate this process by clicking the green recycle icon next to the 'combine' button. Since War Of Genesis is an AFK-focused game, not needing to worry about manually upgrading makes for a major time saver. The settings menu also gives control over fine tuned details such as loot grades to combine, in addition to the level of the items before combining.
Once you select the 'auto combine' option, you can press start and leave the game running in the background. Now, the game will automatically combine all items dropped the moment you get 6 of the same grade.
As you level up, it won't take long until you inevitably hit a wall with progression. Some enemies/bosses will simply do just too much damage to you, ending a level before you can clear it. While there are some no-brainer ways you can help reduce this issue like equipping better armor or specific gems, one of the most important tips to help you out are resistances.
More than a handful of enemies you'll encounter in the game will wield either some kind of elemental affinity, or perhaps even a stun chance. To avoid falling victim to it fast (and also to givr yourself an overall survivability boost) make sure to open your training menu, and get all of the resistance skills to level 5 ASAP. Some nodes further down will require this, so just be sure to unlock them as they pop up, to avoid falling behind in your progression.
A small, but very handy mechanic you can use to aid you in your progression early on is Alliances. You can select one from the top right of your character profile, and once the menu opens you'll be asked to choose a region to represent.
There isn't necessarily a right or wrong answer right now with alliances, but some players on the Steam Discussions have mentioned that CH is the best choice currently. But what does this mechanic actually do for you? Well, by simply playing the game and leveling up your Combat Power Ranking, you can unlock a variety of limited-time buffs to aid you.
While it's highly unlikely you'll be able to reach the higher ranking spots, buffs gained from being in the top 50% are somewhat easy to achieve, even for newer players. Advantages gained can be buffs to defense, damage, attack speed and more!
Unless you're insistent on micro-managing the game the entire time it's open, you'll most likely find yourself leaving War Of Genesis open in the background. If this is the case, don't be surprised if you come back to a whole inventory filled with items you both do, and potentially do not want taking up space.
Outside of purchasing extra slots which can be quite pricey early on, it's recommended to stash gems you're not using, and also class specific weapons in your storage. In the case of the Ranger, it's impossible to use the same main weapon and off-hand as the Wizard. That being said if you ever change your mind in the future and wish to start off with some exceptional items, having a reserve to pull from will be the most beneficial route to take.
This does of course mean that by hoarding items for potential use cases down the line you're missing out on gold from dismantling or combinations for higher grade items.
A steady way to improve your progression in War Of Genesis is to spend diamonds at the altar. Think of this mechanic as a constant power boost you'll be leveling the entire time you're playing. In order to purchase one of the permanent boosts to your account, you'll need to spend a diamond, which is a non-tradeable currency earned only by waiting for the 'Diamond Production' timer to elapse.
This timer runs every 4 hours, and once complete will allow you to click the 'claim' button to collect your shiny new resource. You can then spend it within the same menu for a permanent stat boost that will gradually scale your power as the game goes on. There is one small catch with this mechanic though, and it's that your Production capacity is capped, meaning any diamonds not collected before the cap is hit, will result in lost resource.
But if you simply do the math, 5 x 4 is 20 Hours, meaning so long as you're logging in pretty much daily to collect your resources, you shouldn't run into any problems and can continue to build up your strength!
If with all of the above tips you still find yourself repeatedly failing a stage, it might be time to turn it down a notch. Rather than bashing your head agaionst the wall with minimal progress, skipping back a stage can be a reliable way to farm some extra exp a little faster, and acquire some spare pieces of loot to combine.
Spending nearly an hour trying to take down a boss or enemies you know you're simple just not currently cut out for will only lead to a lack of drops, something which in games like these can be a real death sentence to your journey. So instead of stopping completely, maybe consider slowing down slightly at the right times.
