In this guide, we will break down tips and tricks to help you streamline the fishing process so you can get amazing and useful loot that may otherwise be hard for you to find.

The party you want for fishing is down to preference and how far you are into the game, but there are some features that you may want to look out for.
The first is to have a Pal that can be ridden on water, as this saves time and helps you move quickly! Secondly is a Pal that can reduce the capture gauge to make the minigame easier. Thirdly, someone who increases the items obtained from salvaging, and finally, someone who can increase the items obtained from fishing.
A recommended composition consists of 
Surfent, 
Gloopie, 
Jellroy, and 
Jelliette, as they all meet the suggestions above.
Later in the game, there will be better Pals, but these will do in the early game.
By following the recommended party Pals above, scavenging can give you even more EXP and items, which can help you progress through the game. If you also rank up the Pal, then the benefits will be even higher.
At levels 15, 29 and 45, you’ll unlock Fishing Rods, and at levels 22, 38 and 52, you can unlock Bait. With each Rod size upgrade, the bar in the mini game gets bigger. With each Bait upgrade, you will either increase the size of the bar, increase the drops or improve the rate at which the Pals bite.
Because High Quality Bait only improves the chances of the Pals biting, there isn’t much value in using the resources required to get the bait. You should save the resources for something else instead.
Fishing is relatively simple in Palworld, but depending on the level of the Pal you’re trying to catch, the difficulty can change. Swim out, find some shadows, and basically launch the end of the rod on top of the swimming Pal, then just wait.
Let the Pal take the Bait, then do the mini-game. Try to keep the yellow fish emblem in the green bar until the timer runs out. If you’re successful, you'll catch the Pal.
You can also go fishing for Pals in your base using a Fishing Pond. There are 2 types of Fishing Ponds, which are unlocked at levels 31 and 69. Go up to the Fishing Pond, and press F. You can see what Pals are available to the left.
Pressing Start Production, and a Pal will come and do the fishing for you. After 15 minutes, the Pal will finish their work, and you can go and collect the Pal that was caught. Look in the chest next to the Pond to see what Pal was caught and what items were picked up, too.
In Palworld, there are 3 different shadows that Water Pals emit: small, medium, and large. There is no difference in difficulty between the Pals: the difficulty comes from the Pal you’re trying to catch.
Alongside the shadows, Pals also emit 3 different colours: green, purple, and a purple with a beam coming out of it. Non-coloured Pals can be absolutely anything!
