Overview

This Withered Knight build uses thePolearm and Shield Specialization to protect teammates, control enemies and cover large distances with repeated Charged Dashes. It is particularly effective in Trios, where Intervene can shield allies and even revive downed teammates with the correct Talents.

The build has both an offensive variation for pressuring enemies and a more supportive setup designed to protect your team.

Gear

  • There are three versions of this build depending on your available gear:
  • Blue Loadout Code: 1e7pA4bomMCB560C8D7CenHWFBWMQZq49agdH8JEo3XAgeRjO15P
  • Purple Loadout Code: 1RwgD6GMAVCMvavJel3i4uF6VA4KlmhwWnkRdUVLgJzmIdaV

The build is mainly designed around Blue and Purple gear, but if you want to test it with Green gear, here is the code:

  • Green Loadout Code: Gtf39K7Z3f25SlBmtyNuxBphR0TOgTKrBxd7Im

These codes allow you to copy the items and gems needed for each version of the build. To import a code, simply do the following:

  • Open the Prepare tab in the character screen when in base.
  • Select Manage/Import at the bottom left.
  • Navigate to Import Loadout and paste the code.

Affixes

Blue Loadout

The Blue version provides an affordable starting point while still offering plenty of defensive utility.

  • Aegis 5 – Increases your Defense, helping you withstand more damage while protecting your team. Once it reaches a higher level, it also provides additional Physical Resistance.

  • Brotherhood 5 – While you remain alive, both you and your allies gain increased Defense. If multiple players are using Brotherhood, only the strongest version takes effect. At higher levels, it also increases the team’s Attack.

  • Unyielding 5 – Taking damage from a new enemy temporarily grants Physical and Magic Resistance. Entering combat refreshes the effect, which normally stacks twice but can reach four stacks at a higher level.

  • Elusive 5 – Reduces the Energy consumed when dodging. This is especially useful because dodging with your shield raised is a core part of building Charged Dash levels.

Victory Wine:

Aegis +1 Brotherhood +1 Unyielding +1 Elusive +1

Purple Loadout

The Purple Loadout follows the same core affix setup as the Blue version. When using Purple gear, take the strongest Victory Wine available and use its additional bonuses to prioritise maxing Aegis, Vitality andElusive. This provides the best combination of Defense, Maximum Energy and reduced Dodge Energy Cost.

Skills

This build focuses entirely on the Polearm and Shield Specialization

  • Javelin Thrust
  • Intervene
  • Breaker Shield Bash

Javelin Thrust allows you to grab an enemy before rapidly closing the distance. With the offensive Talent setup, you can kick them into a wall to Stun them and follow up with a jumping heavy attack. Intervene is the main support ability. It lets you quickly reposition while shielding nearby teammates and building one level of Charged Dash, use it to rescue an ally under pressure or to begin an engagement. Breaker Shield Bash gives you another way to disrupt enemies and create space for your carries.

For a more defensive setup, you can replace Breaker Shield Bash with Sacred Bulwark

Sacred Bulwark creates a barrier that stops enemy attacks, while allied ranged characters can continue firing through it. This makes it extremely useful for protecting Blackarrow's, Sorcerer's and other ranged teammates.

Talents

The core Talents allow you to repeatedly build and use Charged Dashes:

  • Polearm and Shield Specialization – Unlocks a third Polearm and Shield Skill slot.
  • Rising Morale – Successfully using a Polearm and Shield Skill increases your Charged Dash level by one.
  • Momentum Shift – Allows you to dodge twice while holding up your shield, with each dodge adding another Charged Dash level.
  • Shield Wall Slam – Dodging forward with your shield raised during Charged Dash grants Super Armor, increases the dash distance and Executes enemies affected by Wither.

Offensive Variation

For the more aggressive version, take:

  • Javelin: Heavy Kick – Replaces the follow up sweep from Javelin Thrust with a kick that knocks the enemy away.
  • Javelin: Stun – Enemies kicked into a wall or another enemy are Stunned.
  • Off-BalanceBreaker Shield Bash applies Slow.
  • Focus – Increases the range of Breaker Shield Bash and temporarily reduces the enemy’s dodge distance.

This setup offers better personal pressure, allowing you to catch enemies, limit their movement and kick them into walls for a follow-up attack.

Support Variation

For the support version, replace the offensive Talent branches with:

  • Guardian – Increases the radius of the Shield applied by Intervene.
  • Swift Vanguard – Intervene also grants allied players additional Movement Speed.
  • Succor – Using Intervene on a downed teammate applies a Redemption Mark, preventing their execution and automatically reviving them after a short delay.

Tips & Tricks

  • A simple engagement is to use Intervene, dodge while holding your shield and then release a second level Charged Dash.
  • Use Javelin Thrust when the enemy has enough distance to travel before hitting a wall. This gives you more time to prepare the jumping heavy attack.
  • Holding the shield gradually builds your Charged Dash. Releasing at the first level performs a smaller attack, while releasing at the second level performs both a dash and a Polearm thrust.
  • Using a Polearm and Shield Skill grants one charge through Rising Morale, while dodging with your shield raised provides another through Momentum Shift.
  • Use Intervene to protect allies in danger before following it with a shield dodge and Charged Dash to pressure the enemy.
