Here is an overview of the Horde Siege game mode in Gears of War: E-Day. In this guide we will go over the main premise of this game mode, a short description of the main objectives, and a short description of the side objectives that the game might throw your way.
Overview
What is Horde Siege
Horde Siege is a PvE mode with imposed set of objectives you have to complete, as well as dynamic secondary non-mandatory objectives. In this game mode your squad of four people is accompanied by two other squads in fight against The Locust. Although you are on the same map, and technically can join forces to tackle bigger challenges (such as killing the Corpser or Brumak), your squad's main objectives will be different from other squads', with the end goal being exfiltration from the map.
Completing Primary and Secondary Objectives makes you earn Energy, which is a currency you can use in a session you are currently playing. Energy is used to buy support items like defensive turrets that can aid you with killing hordes of Locust who will try and stop you from completing your primary objectives. If you do not want to buy defensive turrets, Energy can also be utilized to purchase new weapons, and perks on the spot.

Primary Objectives
In Horde Siege your primary objective will always be in some way related to the R.I.G device, placed somewhere on the map, whether that would be repairing the device, or simply fighting off multiple enemies and defeating the Locust Forces. Completing Primary Objectives will grant you Energy that you can spend on upgrading your loadout, or purchasing defensive turrets in proximity of your current objectives.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES YOU MAY ENCOUNTER DURING YOUR GAMEPLAY:
- Secure - Push into the territory controlled by Locust and kill their soldiers.
- Defend - Protect the R.I.G device from waves of enemies.
- Horde - Survive 10 waves of enemies. (exclusive to the Horde Siege Mission)
- Repair - Find missing components, and reinstall them in the R.I.G device.
- Calibrate - Remain in the designated area until the R.I.G device finishes calibrating.
Once you complete two primary objectives, you will need to move to the extraction zone, clear it out, and board the helicopter, leaving the map and ending your run.

Secondary Objectives
Secondary objectives are a set of optional missions that you and your squad can complete to get Weapon Parts (if you want to permanently keep the weapon part you have acquired, at least one player from your squad needs to successfully exfiltrate out of the mission), or Energy that you can spend on upgrading your loadout, or purchasing defensive turrets in proximity of your current objectives.
SECONDARY OBJECTIVES YOU MAY ENCOUNTER DURING YOUR GAMEPLAY:
- High Value Target - Eliminate an enemy with high values of HP
- Collect COG Intel - Collect data pads
- Destroy - Destroy Locust Interceptors
- Survive - Stay in the zone for a set amount of time and survive enemies attacking you

Dynamic Events
Siege Horde features a system of dynamic events that have a chance to spawn during your session. Those events serve as a way to spice up your gameplay a little, adding some variety to each match you participate in.
DYNAMIC EVENTS YOU MAY ENCOUNTER DURING YOUR GAMEPLAY:
- Invasion Events - These enemies emerge from E-Holes, and have extremely high values of HP Your main objective is to get rid of the enemy. Every squad is encouraged to take part in it, because each participant is going to get rewarded with weapon parts after completing this event.
