How to Build Slicer - Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core

Intro

Rock and Stone!

Today, we take a look at one of the 5 Miners from DRG Rogue Core, the Slicer.

The Slicer is one of the most offensive and selfish characters of the bunch. He is all focused on going in, getting his damage off, and destroying anybody in his path.

He is one of the few dwarfs that scale well with melee damage because of his entire kit.

Let's first get into his abilities and afterwards into what to build and look for.

Other DRG Rogue Core Classes:

Slicer Abilities

Slicer is a pretty unique character because his abilities don't really profit anybody but himself.

He makes up for that by being very good at what he needs to do: assassinating high-priority targets very quickly.

To start with, his UI and abilities themselves:

Slicer UI

Primary Ability: Slice (20-second CD)

Slice is the bread and butter of Slicer's kit. He readies his blade and then cuts through anything in front of him. It deals massive burst damage and scales with any melee upgrades.

Secondary Ability: Blitz (4-second CD)

Slicer dashes forwards to either get in or out of danger.

Ultimate Ability: Shield Belt (90-second CD)

After activation, a shield will form around Slicer, which negates any ranged projectiles for 15 seconds.

Bio Booster Upgrades

Slicer has two starting active decks. Footwork, which is more melee-oriented, and Carnage, which is more gun-oriented.

From the Footwork deck, we prioritize everything besides backstab since it's super situational, and often you won't get the full value out of it.

From the Carnage deck, Seeing Red is by far the best one, since it gives you extra % damage, which is insanely strong. The rest of the deck feels lackluster.

Workbench Upgrades

Whereas most characters will upgrade their weapons on the workbench, I heavily recommend selecting Slice Damage or Range whenever possible. These upgrades turn you from a solid character into a monster.

Most characters like workbenches, Slicer needs them. Without them, he is a lot weaker than he could be.
The other upgrades for Slice are still very solid, but range and damage have priority.

What Upgrades to Prioritize

Every time you get enough experience to upgrade, an important choice awaits. Here are some of the types of upgrades you should prioritize.

  • Anything to do with melee damage. Even if you cannot utilize it fully yet, we will build around it then. Slicer profits a ton from any upgrade that increases his melee damage in any way.
  • Mobility is another super important stat for Slicer since he is mostly a melee character that wants to go in as fast as possible.
  • Because you are melee, you will need more HP or armor than other characters, so invest when you can.

You can still go for gun upgrades, but prioritize melee above all else.

Artifacts

Artifacts are rare but can be super solid on any character when you get the correct ones. I will list the best ones for the Slicer below in priority order:

  • Brawler. +250% Power Charge Speed. Dealing melee damage also now awards 2-18 stone skin. This makes you insanely tanky when melee fighting and can even make you unkillable if you have the correct build.
  • Extreme Vigor. +50 Health Regeneration Threshold, -2s Health Regeneration Delay, +1000% health regeneration rate. This Artifact makes you into a drain tank, almost to the point of how tanky you can become. Especially if you get a second artifact and are allowed to combine it with the next artifact, it will make you immortal.
  • Fountain of Youth. Recover +1 HP every 2 Seconds. Standalone, this perk is super strong, especially during boss fights. But combined with Extreme Vigor, this is arguably the strongest perk/artifact combo in the entire game. I will say you will very rarely get both, if even 1, but getting both can easily give you a win.
  • Lightweight. +55% movement speed reduced by -10 for each piece of gear you carry. Even if you carry 2 pieces of gear, this is super strong. There is a world where you can do it without gear, but 9/10 times that won't happen. It's a bit more situational than the rest, but still very solid.
  • Safety First! +50% max health. Just makes you very tanky.

Best Weapons

Weapons don't matter as much as you think, since anybody can use anything, really.

Slicer does, however, prefer to have close-range weapons. So look into that when you can.

  • Warthog Auto 210 is a close-range shotgun that can really complement your close-range playstyle.
  • Jurry Rigged Boomstick is the same case as the Warthog.
  • Stubby Voltaic SMG. Only take this weapon if you have the Arc Lunge Upgrade(makes your melee hits to electrified targets deal splash damage).
  • Zhukov NUK17 is a fast-firing submachine gun. Very handy in close quarters since its inacurate but fires very fast.
