Diablo 4 is introducing a new way for players to earn rewards with their rework to the Battle Pass system, now known as "Reliquaries".
There are two types of Reliquaries coming with Season 8, Battle Pass Reliquaries and Event Reliquaries.
Let's dive in as we break down the differences and showcase what's available.
Once the patch is live, check out our Diablo 4 Season 8 meta builds to help prepare your journey to complete the Battle Pass.

How do Reliquaries Work?
The new Reliquaries system is set up in a way that offers players more agency with their rewards. Instead of progressing along a linear track, you get to choose the order of what you receive.
Each Reliquary hosts a catalog of (often themed) rewards to unlock, and players can spend Platinum (the Premium currency) to purchase them. However, one free Reliquary exists as part of the Battle Pass, so there's always something for everyone to work towards.
In order to unlock these items, players will need to earn Favor Tokens. Favor Tokens can only be earned by slaying monsters and completing quests, meaning there is no additional paid element to acquiring them. If you manage to get every reward from a Reliquary, you'll automatically unlock the Bonus Reward (noted by the lock and star icon). Just be sure to claim it before the Reliquary expires!
At the top right corner you can see a progress bar, helping indicate how close you are to obtaining the next Token. A maximum of 99 Favor Tokens can be held at a time, so be sure to spend them as you approach the cap. However, it's worth noting that you can also save any additional Favor Tokens to be used for future Reliquaries.
Battle Pass Reliquaries last for the duration of their Season, while Event Reliquaries are separate and often available for a short time. It's said these could be tied to certain milestone events or IP collaborations.
Battle Pass Reliquary Differences
Battle Pass Reliquaries consist of four individual Reliquaries, three of which are paid while one is free. In the upcoming Season, the four categories are Belial's Return, Weapons, Beasts, and Armor.
Each of the Premium Reliquaries has its own cost, but you can also purchase them as a discounted bundle for 1000 Platinum. Their contents can be viewed at any time, so feel free to check out the cosmetics beforehand.
Belial's Return is unlocked free for everyone, and is also said to contain a couple hundred Platinum, allowing players the chance to earn a small amount of Premium currency without paying. Additionally, each Premium Battle Pass Reliquary includes one non-Premium weapon cosmetic for anyone to unlock with Favor Tokens.
The Bonus Rewards of the Season 8 Battle Pass Reliquaries are four separate pieces of the "Guise of the Deceiver" Armor set, which is earned by earning enough Favor Tokens to unlock everything.
Alternatively, players can purchase the Deluxe Battle Pass Bundle and immediately unlock the full set, along with matching wings and Orinocta the Owl (pet) to go with it. This of course unlocks all three Premium Reliquaries as well.
A Few Loose Ends
Season Blessings (along with Smoldering Ashes) will be moved to the Season Journey menu instead of the Battle Pass, but will still function the same way.
Unclaimed Reliquary rewards will disappear once the Battle Pass or Event expires, so make sure you keep an eye on the countdown timer in order to not miss out. This is especially important for Eternal Realm players as they may not keep as close an eye on the Season (though they can still participate on the Battle Pass).
Any unspent Battle Pass Tokens will be automatically converted on April 28th. Premium Battle Pass Tokens will become Reliquary Premium Battle Pass Tokens, while Accelerated Battle Pass Upgrade Tokens will turn to 1800 Platinum.
