Torment 1-12 Endgame Progression Guide

Optimize with your Paragon Boards

The first thing to look at is your Paragon Boards. We know the classic approach to the Paragon Boards is to work towards your Glyph, fill out the Glyph and move on. However, there is a more optimal way to use your Paragon Points early, which will give you a lot more power and make your character more tanky. So instead of going for the Glyphs on your board, you only pick up the Legendary Nodes, and any Rare Nodes along the way. Going for stats like armor, life and resistances will make you so much tankier.

The reason why this approach works so well is because Glyphs actually take a pretty significant investment to get powerful, with their power only being fully unlocked at Glyph level 50. While climbing in Torment tiers, you will not have these Glyphs leveled up yet, so that makes these Legendary Nodes so much easier to work with as they give instant power. Since they are also cheaper in Paragon Points, you will have more points available for those Rare Nodes around as well.

Choosing an Optimal Build

The next best thing that you can do is to ensure you are using the best builds available for your class. We have an entire tier list available, dedicated to showcase our best builds that you can check out here. It will definitely be much easier to progress when you are using the strongest build for your class. If you are not using a meta build, do not worry, as this guide will still help you progress no matter what build you are using.

Gear and Damage

Now onto the specific things you can do right now to progress and climb even higher. Understanding the basics of gear and damage is important, and learning the strengths of crafting is extremely beneficial towards progressing through Torment Tiers.

Crafting Gloves, Amulets and Rings

Crafting some new gloves, amulets and rings will be a sure way to get some good power on your character quickly. What you need to do is place one of those items into your Horadric Cube, preferably Ancestral if you have it, but if not just use an 850 Item Power item until you find an Ancestral. It is best if we start fresh on a plain item, unless it already has the aspects we are looking for. Next you want to add an Aggressive Tuning Prism into your Horadric Cube and hit Add Affix. Add all four affixes onto your items, and then you will walk away with rings, gloves and an amulet full of damage multipliers that will exponentially increase your overall damage.

If you do not like the trolls that you got, you can simply try again with another piece of gear, or click the Remove Affix. Remember to remove your Aggressive Tuning Prisms from the cube before hitting Transmute.

This method does work well, but it can be a little bit luck dependent, so make sure you have quite a few of those Aggressive Tuning Prisms.

If you are running low on these, you can run a Tribute of Ingenuity (it can be regular, lesser or greater) and add in a Bargain for Aggressive Tuning Prisms.

Torment 1-5

Starting with Torments 1-5, we want to work towards getting at least 3 Legendary Nodes on our Paragon Boards. To level up your Paragon, make sure you have your War Plans started to maximize experience. If you need some tips on maximizing your War Plans, check out our guide here. Unlocking three Legendary Nodes on your Paragon Board will be the key power to getting through the first 5 Torment tiers as fast as possible. The real goal at this point is to set a solid foundation for the rest of your climb up, and to collect materials to roll for good gear using the Horadric Cube.

Once you have unlocked Torment 3, you will start to see Set Charms dropping. These are huge power spikes and vital to the success of many builds. Make sure you are picking all of these up, because you can take these to the Horadric Cube to re-roll for a specific charm to complete any Set.

Torment 6-9

Once you have unlocked Torment 5, the next step is to start focusing on your Glyphs as they will become a very important power upgrade now. The first step in this stage is to level all your Glyphs that you plan to use to level 25, and start pathing into the Glyph slots on your Paragon Boards so that you can start using them. Once these are unlocked, there will be a considerable boost to your power.

It is important to save any Ancestral gloves, rings or amulets that drop at this stage, as we will be crafting with them. Remember to continue to run those Undercities when they are on your War Plans, to keep collecting Aggressive Tuning Prisms as crafting is going to become a huge part of your progression. As you are crafting new gear, remember to have at least one of every damage multiplier in your gear that is relevant for your build. This will make a huge difference in your power, compared to stacking it all into one damage-type stat.

So from here on you want to:

  • Level your War Plans
  • Level your Paragon
  • Level your Glyphs
  • Craft better loot

If you are struggling to stay alive, make sure you are getting defensive stats in your gear where you can, and ensure you are hitting those defensive Magic or Rare Nodes in your Paragon Boards.

Torment 10-12

Torment 10 is where the rewards will stop scaling as hard. This progression is purely aspirational. You are now going to focus on perfecting your gear, and leveling through your Paragon Board. Torment 10 is also the starting point where Lair Bosses really start to come online for their unique drops, so now is a good time to begin target farming for the specific Uniques your build needs.

This part of the progression is really focusing on the fundamentals that you have built up to this point, and then really focusing on capitalizing them. You have learned the importance of crafting, re-rolling stats on charms becomes vital to builds and learning how the new damage is calculated as well. These things will make or break in this stage of the game.

You will also need to focus on getting your Paragon levels up at this point as well. If you are looking for some tips on maximizing your experience farming, check out our guide here.

Good luck and happy blasting!
