At BlizzCon, the Diablo 4 developers sat down during a panel to share with everyone everything coming to Diablo 4 Season 15. This season is huge, with so much coming to Diablo 4 to become one of the most nostalgic seasons. This will be the biggest season yet to celebrate 30 years of Diablo.
This article will serve as an overview of seasonal mechanics, new but familiar bosses, and more. Season 15: Hell's Legacy launches September 15 at 9:30 AM PT.
The Prime Evils have all Returned
In Season 15 Hell's Legacy, you will now be able to face all three of the Prime Evils. Season 15 re-introduces the popular areas from legacy Diablo games. You can face the Ancients at Mount Arreat from Diablo 2, to make headway towards the Throne of Destruction to face Baal. Mephisto lurks in the Durance of Hate. Diablo can be found beneath the Tristram Cathedral from Diablo 1. When you defeat the Prime Evils you can receive one of three Splinters of Evil.
When bearing a Splinter of Evil, you become a dark wanderer yourself, and earn reputation through activities associated with that splinter. The splinter also makes you more vulnerable to its associated Prime Evil, which means echoes will appear and stalk you.
There will be eight activity modifiers in each rep track, along with six upgrades to the Iconic Power:
Diablo's Splinter of Terror modifies Helltide and Infernal Hordes
Baal's Splinter of Destruction modifies The Undercity and Lair Bosses
Mephisto's Splinter of Hatred modifies The Pit and Nightmare Dungeons
All three modify the Tree of Whispers
Only one Soul Splinter will be able to be used at a time,
Soul Splinters
Soul Splinters are different than Splinters of Evil, these are socketable gems that go into jewelry that can provide powerful buffs, but also huge drawbacks. You can equip up to three Soul Splinters using available Jewelry Slots. The Soul Splinters are associated with the Lesser Evils, Minor Evils and the Black Soulstone. They come in Magic, Rare, Legendary and Unique rarity. These can be upgraded in the Horadric Cube with Amalgamation to the next highest rarity.
The Soul Splinters are:
Splinter of Anguish (Andariel)
Splinter of Sin (Azmodan)
Splinter of Lies (Belial)
Splinter of the Black Soulstone
Splinter of Pain (Duriel)
Splinter of the Mother (Lilith)
Splinter of Hellfire (Na-Krul)
Splinter of Damnation (Skarn)
Waking Nightmares
Another blast from the past, Season 15 introduces Waking Nightmares which will bring in many new, but familiar bosses into Diablo 4. There are three versions of Waking Nightmares. The first is a multi-level Capstone-type dungeon that will re-create the historic battles against the Prime Evils. You will first encounter this in the Seasonal quest line, and later again able to battle against them in Torment tiers.
The second type of Waking Nightmare will appear as standard length dungeons in the over world. These are also re-creating familiar moments from legacy Diablo games. These have a fixed location across the world, just like normal dungeons.
The third type of Waking Nightmare is smaller, and will randomly appear in the world. These will be a singular room encounter with a past boss.
End Game Updates
War Plans
War Plans are being updated to be account wide, instead of character bound. War Plans for one character will be shared across alts on your account that exist in the same partitions within these categories:
Eternal/Seasonal
Non-Hardcore/Hardcore
Normal/Solo-Self Found
As long as two characters on your account match states in each of these three partitions, they will share War Plans progress. For example, they will share if both are Seasonal Non-Hardcore Non-SSF, but will not share with a Seasonal Non-Hardcore SSF.
Mythic Uniques and Crafting
Mythic Uniques can be created three ways:
Horadric Cube: Upgrade Direct Item to Mythic
Jeweler: Rune Crafting > Mythic Uniques
Blacksmith: Forge > Mythic Cache
Upgrade to Mythic will be more expensive than the Blacksmith or Jewler, but it will be a direct 1:1 transfer, removing all the random factors from before. The Mythics created using this method will have a crafted tag, but this is the only method that will recieve it. Since this is a very powerful method, only one Mythic item with the crafted tag can be equipped.
Two New Horadric Cube Crafting Recipes
Affix Value Reroll allows you to reroll all base affixes on both equipment and Talisman items (Charms and Seals) -- while protecting desirable traits like Greater Affixes, any Enchanted affixes, Tempers, and Transfigurations (as long as that Transfigured item is not Unmodifiable).
Horadric Reroll is a second option for rerolling Charms and Seals, with a few differences. Available for Legendary+ Charms and Seals, Horadric Reroll fully randomizes all base Affixes on Charms and Seals, without touching Set Bonuses or Unique/Mythic charm powers. This will not change the Charm Set bonuses on Seals, just the base Affix.
New Legacy Uniques
The following legacy Uniques are being introduced during Season 15. These are permanent additions to the game available on both Seasonal and Eternal realms. Those marked with (*) are also available as Unique Charms.
All Classes:
Leoric's Crown (Helm)
*Nemesis Bracers (Gloves)
*Stone of Jordan (Ring)
*Squirt's Blouse (Chest - Squirt's Necklace incorporated into a Chest piece)
The Horadric Post is a new way for the Diablo IV team to deliver rewards and messages directly to your account.
The Horadric Post will occasionally contain deliveries with rewards, supplies, and commemorative items.
This system is one-way.
Rebirth
Rebirth is a way to carry on your characters legacy through new seasons. This is a way to keep all hours played on that character, throughout the seasons.
Rebirth keeps all of the following:
Class, name, appearance, and state (Normal or Hardcore)
When saved as part of an ensemble, cosmetic preferences including transmogs and pigments, mounts and accessories, pets, portals, and headstones can also transfer.
Season Journey and Reliquary
Season of Hell's Legacy also includes more rewards in the Season Journey. These include:
Up to 14 Skill Points
Up to 42 Paragon points
Up to 10 Resplendent Sparks (plus those in Mythic Caches)
5 Mythic Unique Caches
Dark Wanderbear pet

4 Title Laurels
Crafting and Masterworking materials, currency, Lair Boss Keys, and more
Caches containing gear and all kinds of useful materials, including Runes, Sigils, Talisman Charms, and Seals
It is important to note that some of these rewards require the Lord of Hatred expansion.
