Introduction

Horadric Cube is a new Crafting system added in Lord of Hatred that fundamentally changes the way we gear out characters and approach loot.
While it is a daunting system to first get into, this article will walk you through step by step what each of the functions do, how to use each of them, and their best applications.

Make sure to check out our Build Guides so you know exactly what type of gear to be crafting.

Gear Modification

Add Affix:

This effect is simple, but also one of the most powerful. It will simply add an affix to an item that has room for an extra affix.

The part where this becomes powerful is we can influence what is added using Tuning Prisms. For example, White and Blue rarity Gloves, Amulets, Weapons, and Rings can all be crafted on using Aggressive Tuning Prisms to guarantee Offensive affixes on every single added affix. This can create very strong gear very early on for very little investment, and should be a go to method for majority of players to get very strong gear.

Chaotic Reroll:

This option is the one players should familiarize themselves with the most as it is the best option for taking good gear and making it into great gear.

What it does is it will select a random affix and reroll that affix into another affix at random. However we can also use Tuning Prisms to influence what affixes are picked.
So for example, if you had a ring with Physical Resistance on it and 3 very good Offensive affixes, you can use a Protectors Tuning Prism to guaranteed that Chaotic Reroll will remove the Defensive affix and reroll it to another affix of any type that you would want instead.

Focused Reroll:

This reroll option has the same idea as Chaotic Reroll, but works a little bit differently.

If, for example, you had a ring with 3 Offensive affixes and the last affix was Life Regeneration and you wanted to roll into Lucky Hit Chance instead.
Because both of them are Utility affixes, you can use a Pragmatic Tuning Prism to guarantee that the Life Regeneration is not only picked, but will also guarantee the result that is rolled to be another Utility Affix.

Remove Affix

Remove Affix works in the same way that Add Affix does, but instead of adding it will take away an Affix. And we can pick what gets taken away with Tuning Prisms in the exact same way.

The only thing to note is that when you remove an affix, it will lower the rarity of the item as well, making it a good way to get basic White gear for other crafting methods.

Transfigure Item:

This will be your ultimate upgrade for late game, and how it will work will depend heavily between the two types of Tuning Prisms used.

If no Tuning Prism is used, it will modify the item with a random bonus, either positive or negative, and will render the item unmodifiable.

If an Enthropic Tuning Prism is used, it will remove the negative outcomes at the cost of also removing the best outcomes. This can make for a guaranteed power increase and is worth using when you don't want to gamble on getting a good outcome. Using this will render the item unmodifiable.

If a Kullean Tuning Prism is used, it will instead add a random aspect onto your gear. While there isn't a limit to the number of times you can reroll for a new aspect using this, they are extremely rare and should only be used on the very best gear. The item will remain modifiable if this is used. It cannot be used on Uniques.

Unique Power Reroll:

Using this crafting option will reroll the modifiable passive range of any Unique placed into it. While it is simple, it is worth noting that the materials needed to do this are very rare and should only be used on the very best gear.

Item Transmutation

3 To 1 Transmutation:

Players might already be familiar with this crafting option, allowing players to turn in 3 of one item to get a new version of that same item.

However it should be noted that by adding only 1 rarity of item, you'll also be guaranteed to get that same type of rarity back. This means it is more advantageous to sort your gear by Ancestral rarity and make sure you reroll Ancestral gear with other Ancestral gear for the best results.

Recycle Uniques:

This works in the exact same way as 3 to 1 Transmutation, but for Uniques. And just like it, players are guaranteed an Ancestral quality result if all 3 items used were of Ancestral quality.

Upgrade To Unique:

With some smart planning, this crafting option has the potential to be the biggest time and resource save. Put simply, it will turn any type of item put in into a unique of that same type.

This can be very powerful when the item you are looking for is the only unique of that given item type. For example the Sanguivor, Blade of Zir is the only Two-Handed Unique for the Necromancer call. This means by putting in an Ancestral Two-Handed sword, the player will be guaranteed to get an Ancestral Quality Sanguivor, Blade of Zir.

Upgrade To Legendary:

While not as powerful as some of the other options, this still has a solid niche. This can upgrade any Rare item into an Legendary quality by adding an Aspect on it. And the type of Aspect that is added can be influenced by Tuning Prisms.

This can be helpful if players are looking for a specific aspect by targeting specific types of aspects to be added.

Reroll Charm Set:

Charms are one of the new power systems added in Lord of Hatred, and Reroll Charm Set is a powerful crafting option to match. This allows players to transform a Charm into another version of that same Charm type set.

If players are looking for a specific Charm to complete a set, or are looking for better stats on their Charm, this crafting option is the go to for both mid game players and end game players to see huge damage spikes. It will be a go to crafting method all season.

Craft Unique Charm:

Uniques can also be make into Charms, which works best when players have found a 6 Charm Slot Talisman. And this crafting system allows for Uniques to be make into Charms by using 3 other Unique Charms as materials. This can be incredibly strong in the right situations and can some times be build defining.

Amalgamation:

And lastly, we have the most under-rated crafting option. This will allow for players to trade in 5 of specific items to gain a greater reward.

This is most commonly used with Boss Trophies to turn 5 of them into a Unique from that bosses respective loot pool.
However, they can also be used on Tributes to upgrade your Tribute into a greater rarity, or turn 5 Nightmare Dungeons into an Escalating Nightmare Dungeon. This can make content feel a lot more seamless and opens the door to higher quality rewards.
