Corrupted Roots Explained

Corrupted Roots are consumable items obtained through the Tree of Whispers. To access them, you need to unlock the Corrupted Roots Skill Tree node in the Tree of Whisper War Plans, with additional benefits unlocked with the Roots of Power and Headrotten Feat nodes. It is recommended to at least get Roots of Power before starting this method.

Once placed, Corrupted Roots will spawn a variety of monsters which drop a wide range of gear depending on where on the map the Corrupted Root is placed which can allow players to target farm specific gear and materials.

Below is a table listing all the known locations and their rewards:

Group Farming Method

While Corrupted Roots can be a strong farming method for solo players, it is when it's farmed in a group that the method becomes extremely strong as all material drops are shared across all players currently in the party.

Using this, players can alternate between players to place down a Corrupted Root for four times the materials, which is most notably in Hawezar as this method becomes the best method for farming Forgotten Souls.

How To Effectively Collect Corrupted Roots

As Corrupted Roots drop randomly from Three of Whisper Cache, the key to effectively farming them is to stick to the most time efficient method. Below are the best activates to run to complete your Tree of Whisper as fast and efficiently as possible:

Nightmare Dungeons

Nightmare Dungeons reward five Whisper points and often provide the fastest progress.

One useful detail is that Whisper Nightmare Dungeons do not require a Sigil. If a dungeon appears as a Whisper activity, you can enter it directly from the map as a normal dungeon.

Many of these dungeons also allow fast completion. In some cases, you can move directly to objectives without clearing every enemy.

Since several Whisper dungeons often appear at once, they usually form the core of efficient farming routes.

Legion and World Boss Events

Legion Events reward three Whisper points, while World Bosses reward five.

These activities also provide useful loot, so they fit naturally into Whisper farming routes.

Because they appear on fixed timers, they are easy to include during longer farming sessions.

PvP Zone Abomination

The PvP Zone Abomination rewards five Whisper points.

Both PvP zones contain one, which means players can earn ten points total across both areas.

After defeating the boss, purifying Seeds adds another three points per zone. This raises the total reward to eight points per area.

Respawn timers are fairly long, so it helps to complete these whenever they become available.

Helltides

Helltides offer several Whisper activities, but some take longer than others.

For faster progression, many players focus on the Blood Maiden. Summoning and defeating her provides quick Whisper progress without requiring long detours.

Mysterious Chests also count toward progression. However, they often take longer to complete compared to faster alternatives.

If efficiency matters most, quick Blood Maiden clears usually save time.

Undercity

Undercity activities reward three Whisper points.

They are usually quick to complete and provide useful loot, which makes them a practical option whenever available.

Pits

Pits also reward three Whisper points.

Completion speed matters more than tier level for Whisper farming. Lower-tier runs often provide better efficiency if your goal is points rather than progression.

Lair Bosses

Lair Boss Whisper activities can be easy to miss because icons overlap on the map.

A simple way to check is through your inventory. If a Lair Boss counts as a Whisper activity, the Tree of Whispers icon appears on its key.

Checking keys periodically helps avoid missing quick Whisper progress opportunities.
