You are looking to get 240+ vigor for the banished lord's talisman. It's currently bugged, and 240 vigor is enough to overpower each cast. If you can't reach 240 vigor then you suck and can use tibault's will as well.
On midnight sun, focus on getting as high of a roll on the resource as possible combined with tempering resource generation on the other ring.
Other than that, focus on gaining as many maximum resolve stacks and maximum life as possible.
If you have decent enough gear, then getting your armour and resistances capped are not important. You will have a massive barrier + hp and can't die.
