If you happen to look for stats on your stuff go for thorns, followed by attackspeed and movement speed on your gear during the leveling process. Also look for chance to make enemies vulnerable on your ring or gloves.

Any of the aspects or uniques are optional and do not make or break the build, but enhance your gameplay experience tremendously. If you happen to get the Wound Drinker early you should still not drop it in favour of other skills due to its upgrade effects and active.

If you are going for tempers, go for either

  1. Crushing Hand extra hit
  2. Rock splitter to hit twice
    on your weapon.
  3. The protector cooldown
    on your rings.

How it Plays

Skill Priority Gorilla

  1. Use Rock Splitter to build up Vigor and deal thorns damage with every third hit.
  2. Use Crushing Hand to spend your Vigor and deal a additional thorns dmg.
  3. Use Toxic Skin to apply poison and deal thorns damage through the Tormentor's Aspect.
  4. Use Scourge for regening your Vigor.
  5. Use Armored Hide to gain 100% block and regen Vigor as well as deal Thorns damage through Bristleback Aspect.
  6. Use The Protector for DMG, Barrier, Heal, Unstoppable and Buffs.

How it Works

This build focuses around utalizing the massive potential of thorns for lvling. You can apply it very easily, it doesn´t need to scale to deal really good dmg and it also have 2 way inbuild to autobomb your way through mobs.

Its also extremely tanky, making it possible to lvl it in hardcore without much danger.

Gorilla Overview

We use a multitude of abilities to apply thorns, either by making enemies hit us, a thorn dot through poison, a variety of active skills like Payback and Rock Splitter and running through enemies while having Armored Hide active. Some of the interactions require aspects to work but the core idea of the build works very well without any of that.

The Two Runes we use as well as our keystone of choice all are here to reduce the cooldown of our abilities and make them useable on demand whenever we want to. Using the Ultimate The Protector also resets some of our cooldowns and makes the abilities free to use generating further uptime on everything.

Because of this we have 4 mainstats we want to find on your gear:

  1. Thorns
  2. Attackspeed
  3. Dexterity
  4. Cooldown Reduction

We further boost our dmg through vulnerable application by using a chance to make enemies vulnerable ring or a polearm to apply it with the same lucky hit due to a passive in the skilltree.

As for defenses we will be using a variety of ways to apply barrier and damage reduction buff. This will further boost our thorns dmg through a passive effect on the skilltree. Health recovery is achieved through poison application through Toxic skin and the Centipede 2 upgrade as well as The Protector.

The following Tempers are highly recommended for QoL/dmg:

  1. Thorns Dmg
  2. Protector Cooldown
  3. Rock Splitter Size / Armored Hide Thorns bonus
  4. Rock Splitter double dmg / Payback Double dmg

What is Ferocity? What is Resolve? What is Vigor?

Ferocity
Ferocity increases your Attack Speed by 5%[+] per stack. This effect stacks up to 4 times and each lasts for 4 seconds.

Resolve
Resolve increases your Damage Reduction by 20% while active. Taking direct damage consumes a stack. You can hold up to 8 stacks.

Vigor
Your primary Resource, acting similar to Fury for the Barbarian.

Greater Spirits

Complete the class quest at 15. Thats about it.

You will unlock a primary spirit with a greater boon you can swap around as you like at 15. And a secondary spirit at lvl 30 automatically after completing the lvl 15 quest.

The primary spirit adds an additional animal tag to your skills which allows f.e. your eagle skill to benefit from jaguar effects and passives. The second spirit adds a minor boon that is actually pretty impactful and sometimes stronger than the first one, but it does not add any tags.

Some builds will run a 3rd tag which can be aquired with the Ebewaka unique helmet. This adds a tag through your secondary boon!
