Diablo 4 Sorcerer BuildIce Shards - John Wayne
Ice Shards is pretty fun skill and a fan favorite. You are basically a cowboy slanging shards around. Ice Shards was one of the kings of Season 0, but it has been near bottom of the barrel since then.
Ice Shards honestly isn't really strong right now, it has barely any support from aspects and it has no unique to take it over the edge.
This is the pre-mythic guide • My Starter builds will typically get you through WT3 and into WT4 (Skill dependent)

Ice Blade Enchant - For reducing cooldowns or increasing attack speed, whichever node you chose Summoned/Invoked
Frost Nova Enchant - Freeze the world and deal 15% more damage to anything hit by a Frost Nova

Prodigy is just there as a failsafe, if you don't have any mana issues use the Conceited Aspect for more damage
Starting off we use the Godlslayer Helm for it's good affixes, and it's moments of grouping enemies for big damage.
We use Esu's Heirloom because before you get good gear, your crit chance is abysmal.
Piercing Cold is standard on ice shards Frozen Memories is standard with the Avalanche passive Storm Swell/Shredding Blades are for better damage Snowveiled for unstoppable and damage reduction Orange Herald for resetting Deep Freezes cooldown

Build Notes
• Ice shards is your main caster
• Deep Freeze is to be used frequently and whenever off Cooldown in combat, you can cancel it early and still get most of the damage and it's bonus to cold damage and cooldown resets
• Ice Blades are spammed off CD • Ice armor is used whenever off cooldown • Flame Shield is used as needed
Ice Shards is built like a standard sorcerer build with 1 spender (Ice Shards) and 5 cooldown skills. You blast away with Ice shards, and use cooldowns as frequently as possible to keep yourself alive with barriers, and to aid in damage.
Ice Shards does not have a key unique item that enables it to really shine, but the piercing cold aspect did get a nice buff that should aid in its mobbing damage. It now pierces way more enemies and the damage increases after each pierce.
Now this is great for mobbing, but for bossing it doesn't do much. Thankfully Icefall now doubles its bonus on bosses, and Ice Shards can now use the Searing Heat legendary node to get 60% more damage as well.
Mana isn't an issue with Frigid Breeze and Starless Skies. Ice Shards has very good Lucky Hit for frigid breeze and Starless drops our mana cost significantly
You will want to use your Deep Freeze liberally. It isn't just a defensive ultimate. It deals quite a bit of damage, resets all your cooldowns, and grants you 25% bonus damage to cold for 5 seconds after it ends. You can cancel it early and still get most of the damage and all of the other bonuses if you do not want to wait the full 4 seconds.
