Build Summary

Starfall Coronet is finally not god awful, thanks to it getting 3 charges. When used in conjunction with ice blades, you can have an instant Cooldown of the skill given you get the Cooldown to around 2 seconds.

I found that the build performs best when you spec fully into the Meteorites of the Shattered Stars aspect, similiar to how a Blizzard build uses the Glacial aspect. This is purely due the double value the meteorites get on a staff, and the 450% damage scaling the meteorites get during Inferno due to the Armageddon aspect.

It's here folks. "Meteor" is finally good. The dinosaurs probably deserved it anyway.

I will be looking into Pure Meteor once I get around to making this build and trying to see how it compares to Meteorites

Enchantments

Ice Blade Enchant - Absolutely mandatory for Meteor with Starfall because Invoked Ice Blades reduce your cooldowns by so much Teleport Enchant - extremely useful for movement and using Flickersteps to reset our Inferno Ultimate

Starting off we don't have the best cooldown or stats, so we run Flickersteps to try and keep really high uptime on Inferno

We don't run Enlightenment to start off, we want the crit chance from Esu's Ferocity, and the attack speed from Ancient Flame

Any combination of Fire Damage, Pyromancy Attack Speed, or Pyro Crit damage tempers should be fine

Strengths and Weaknesses

strengths

  • Actually hits like a Mack Truck
  • Talkin Bout Meteors
  • Heard you like Meteors

weaknesses

  • Need a good Starfall + Cooldown
  • Can't see the floor
  • Not the fastest build, and requires a little ramping

Build Notes

Gameplay Loop

• Meteor is your main cast as it creates Meteorites when you cast • Once your build is good enough, you can spam this on 0 Cooldown when ramped • Inferno should be spammed, it provides vulnerable and 50% damage to your fire skills • Ice Blades should be spammed • Teleport Evade for Movement and to stack enlightenment • Ice armor whenever it is off cooldown • Flame Shield as needed • Hard cast teleport for movement and to break crowd control

How It Works

Meteor is on the table as a viable decent build finally. Well, Meteorites are. Despite not being able to use some of the strongest witch power combos this season in Purging Touch/Witching Hour and Elder sigil, meteorites still outperform Meteor alone. This is due to the sheer strength of the Shattered Stars and Armageddon aspect.

Enlightenment is still the go-to Key passive, but starting off there is strong play with Esu's Ferocity + 55% attack speed from Ancient Flame. Combine this with flickersteps, and you should be good to go early to keep permanent uptime of Inferno. Inferno uptime is really important because you deal 50% more fire damage while it is active.

The Starfall Coronet helmet is pretty solid now after gaining a third charge, because of an interaction with the cooldown reduction from Summoned Ice Blades. Each chop of ice blades that reduces cooldowns applies separately to each charge. This results in 1.8 seconds being chopped off each attack. The goal is to get your Meteor Cooldown down from 3 seconds to about 2.2 ish and then your Meteor functions as a cooldown skill.

I will experiment with pure meteor in the season, to determine if meteorites is still the best way to go. I think it is based on PTR testing.
