Diablo 4 Sorcerer BuildChain Lightning - Emperor Palpatine
Chain Lightning and Axial Conduit's are pretty strong together, they are just extremely mana hungry. It can be tricky to solve, but with the right tools, we can handle it. This build gets most of it's damage from the Axial Conduit pants and chain lightning, but I opt to take splintering on gloves to spruce up the mobbing damage. It really helps, and this plays as a true hybrid.
I did not like pure Chain Lightning with Lightning Rod, and I did not like Splintering on the Amulet slot. This is the most balanced version of the build and I like it a lot. Feels very strong. I think it will cap around T100-105 pit
• To be a giga tank use DOOMBRINGER
Enchantments • Teleport Enchantment - Is taken in conjunction with attacks reduce evade boots and the Raiment chest to group enemies with every evade
Ice Blade Enchantment - is taken to get more conjuration mastery stacks and reduce cooldowns when ice blades attack things
How do we apply Burning? • When you do not have familiars on the skill bar, Familiars made during Unstable currents will default to fire familiars and can apply burning • Since we are always fighting in melee range, these familiars will always be applying burning around us when we need it
Flex Skill Bar Slot • You can run either teleport OR Lightning spear • Teleport lets you break CC and go faster • Lightning Spear lets you get more conjurations out for more damage • I personally swap between them
Use Soothing Spice Incense and Potent warding to shore up resistances, if you don't have enough paragon you will need an all resist roll on your boots over mana per second or Intelligence • Use Elixir's of Resourcefulness to aid in mana issues
Runes • Tam-Ohm for warcry is pretty standard
• Poc is INSANE at generating offering with Chain Lightning Pair POC with • Lum to restore resource • KRY for pulls • Vex for skill ranks (meh) • Zec to shore up your ultimate cooldown if it's spotty
Amulet • Tempers should be crit strike damage, then whatever you want. Evade cooldown reduction, unstable currents CDR. It depends on your needs and wants
Weapon • You can use azurewrath if you want, but i think a storm swell wand is just better • You can use doombringer if you want to tank
strengths
- Balance of Mob and Boss Damage
- Amazing AoE Damage
- You are the Senate
weaknesses
- Need paragon/Incense for resists
- Darth Vader will eventually betray you
- Mana regen is an issue, until it isn't
Build Notes
1) We will be spamming Chain Lightning and Ice blades whenever we can, while evading into enemies to clump them with Raiment
2) We utilize Ice armor defensively for a large barrier, and you can pretty much press it whenever it comes off cooldown in the endgame builds. It is typically an engage.
3) Teleport is used for mobility, to dodge exploding pools, or as an engage to clump enemies out of range of our evade teleport
4) Flame shield is used to immune frame boss/shade attacks and exploding pools. You can also use it as an engage if Ice armor is down.
5) Unstable Currents can be used liberally and frequently when fighting enemies. Don't worry you'll get it back!
Enlightenment will stack itself up passively and have good uptime because this build has a ton of ice blade and ice armor spam. Ice blades reduce their own cooldown a lot, and Shimmering Ice armor counts the mana drain from Axial so you can use it a lot!
Frostburns and Azurewrath being in the build are tenative on them being unsquished and having a larger than intended value as we saw in the PTR and VoH review build.
Chain Lightning is a core shock skill that sends out lightning bolts that chain off enemies. Crazy right? When you pair it with the Unique Pants Axial Conduit, it takes on a new effect where it bounces back and forth between you and the enemy while draining your mana for each Chain Lightning on the field. After 66 mana is drained, boom goes the dynamite and an explosion goes off for a large amount of damage. Chain Lightnings still only last for their normal duration, but you can see 8-12 out regularly.
It's a mana minigame, as when you run out of mana you have to start the sequence back over from 0 Chain Lightnings. The whole goal is to maintain as many at one time as you can, without running out of mana. The more you get out, the more the Unique Effect of Axial Conduit will explode, the more damage you deal.
This build utilizes Teleport enchantment and Raiment to bop around and clump enemies. You spam chain lightnings into them, and Axial Explodes into the packs. Simple stuff, but can be tricky to keep uptime on without running out of mana.
Some versions opt to not use raiment, as Shroud of false death can grant comparable damage through it's +1 to all passives implicit. It's a sidegrade to Raiment that makes you much tankier, at the cost of losing the clumping. Raiment will always be Best in Slot for Pit Pushing because of the clumping.
In season 5 we ran Andariel's to provide a large life on hit value with the Starlight aspect to restore our mana for the overheals we recieved. Starlight has been nuked into the ground for season 6 unfortunately. Luckily for us, the Lucky hit restore aspect on the Focus got buffed by a substantial amount, so we can get away with not running this combination!
