Destiny 2 Warlock BuildBecome the Storm
PvEFires a wide horizontal spread when shot from the hip. Final blows with this weapon have a chance to generate Ionic Traces. Powerful foes and opposing Guardians always generate Ionic Traces.
While you have an Arc ability equipped, Arc ability or Jolt final blows increase the recharge rate of your abilities and extend the duration of Stormtrance.
Build Details
This build is focused on using the Lightning Surge aspect for general add clear. The combination of your fragments and Crown of Tempests allows you to have high uptime on Lightning Surge.
This build will use the Arcane Needle melee, so we can have three Lightning Surges. We pair this with Storm Grenades to aid in ability regeneration, which I will explain below.
Crown of Tempests will be our primary way of recharging our abilities. Crown of Tempests states that "Arc ability or jolt final blows increase the recharge rate of your Arc abilities and extend the duration of Stormtrance." Despite saying it increased the recharge rate of "Arc" abilities, it will increase the recharge of Arcane Needle (and any melee, class ability, or super) as well as long as you have an Arc Grenade equipped.
Both Lightning Surge and Storm Grenade kills will grant us the buff Conduction Tines 1|2|3 which will significantly increase our abilities' recharge. This allows us to constantly throw grenades and jump into hordes of enemies, killing them all in a storm of electricity. When Transcendent we can just spam Lightning Surge which is really fun.
For our other Aspect, we use Feed the Void to grant us Devour on ability kills. Since we will be killing enemies with our abilities often, Devour will be present most of the time during combat encounters. Pairing this with the class ability Pheonix Dive and Woven Mail (explained below), we will have high survivability which will be required as Lightning Surge puts us up close and personal with enemies.
Our choice of super will be Needlestorm. Not only is Needlestorm a powerful burst damage super, but when paired with the fragment Face of Purpose it allows us to gain Woven Mail for 5 Seconds after picking up an Orb of Power.
We will use multiple Heavy Handed arm mods to create Orbs of Power when we kill enemies using Lightning Surge. So after we have put ourselves in a risky position by jumping into the fray, we will gain Woven Mail to help us survive.
Weapons are able to be changed based on preferences and activity, but I like using the exotic arc fusion rifle, Delicate Tomb, and the strand rocket sidearm, The Call. Delicate Tomb periodically spawns Ionic Traces, which when picked up will allow the weapon to Jolt enemies. Jolting enemies will proc our Crown of Tempest to help give us ability regen if we are out of our abilities. The Call is a very ammo-efficient weapon that helps with far-away enemies and charging our darkness transcendence meter.
Our stat priorities go Resilience > Strength > Discipline > Recovery > Intellect > Mobility. At the very least you should try to have Tier 10 (at least 100) Resilience.
In-Depth Explanation
Basic gameplay loop:
- Spam Lightning Surge, periodically using Storm Grenades when ideal
- Gain Conduction Tines and recharge your melee and grenades
- Repeat steps 1 and 2 until all enemies are dead
If you find yourself out of energy, or if it is not ideal to use your abilities, shoot Delicate Tomb if enemies are close and The Call if they are far.
Cast Transcendence and Super as you see fit.
And most importantly, have fun!
