Summary
This is largely a standard Wishful Ignorance build, but I found it paired well with Wolfsbane and built around that.
The build gives you a simple priority system - just use different weapons or abilities depending on how tough the target or group is.
There is a little more nuance and refinement to be had, but you really could set the build up and do fine on even grandmaster content with that simple approach.
Renegades Update - Not a lot changed here. Wolfbane actually got buffed! Just made 1) updates in the artifact and weapons section for champions and 2) there is a new armor set that is good.
A Bit of Fan Fiction Vanguard Captain Rele welcomes Hunter Recon Specialist Daro into her office. Rele:
"I have the perfect job for you. A combination of your tracking skills and your good listener…counseling.. instincts.
We’ve picked up intel that suggests a 'monster in the woods' story might actually be a wayward Titan. Echo-19.
[Rele hands Daro a picture — an unusually large Exo Titan. The arms and legs appear non-standard.]
He fought in the final push into the Pale Heart. Got out in one piece, but his longtime friend — pilot Luna Díaz — didn’t.
That seemed to be the tipping point. He stopped volunteering. Started wandering the City. We tried counseling. He didn’t show.
Then he disappeared. No comms, no pings. That was two years ago.
Not sure if you’ve heard about the new fishing settlement on the Caspian Sea — Baku. The Caspian avoided a lot of the pollution during the Collapse… so maybe treat yourself to some fresh seafood while you’re there, heh.
Anyway, locals have been reporting sightings of a giant — something protecting the city.
It wasn’t a high priority. All the attacks were ops we’d have ordered anyway. Enemy of my enemy and all.. but the level of carnage... Bad PR if it turns out this thing’s one of ours.
But then drones picked this up—"
[A blurry image: same disproportionate limbs, a visible Exo forearm. Covered in what looks — even from a distance — like bones and fur.]
"Baku also happens to be very close to where Echo-19 was originally from. Braytech scientist. Later stationed on Europa.
Ideally? We bring him back into the fold.
We’d even be fine with him staying out there — just,… without the trophies and frightening the settlers.
If he won’t come willingly, just back off and we will reassess."
In-Depth Explanation
Basic Simple Approach
- Start your Banner of War either with a powered or unpowered melee or axe defeat
- Use primary on adds, melee or special or heavy on others
More Advanced Notes
- For DPS, unravel the boss, then switch to the Axe.
- With attrition orbs on Wolfsbane, you can go feral on bosses, it takes 6 swings to proc and is fast enough to keep Woven Mail up constantly plus you get extra bits of resistance from Smoke Jumper. Combine that with getting in a charged melee to sever if needed, and you’re very tanky.
- Thread of Fury gives more melee energy on higher tier targets, and will proc off of multiple foes at once. Consider where you’re procing /throwing tangles.
- Pay attention to your Axe's Ammo before using alt-reload, all other things being equal. You don't want to waste the +14 ammo.
