How It Works

This build has some insane artifact synergy, and there are many parts to it, but one that I find the most fun and interesting comes from the pairing of Vile Weave and Whirling Maelstrom. See with Vile Weave we can pick up tangle to reduce our tangle cooldown but more importantly, when we deal damage with a tangle, it severs the target. On most other classes, this means that when you throw the tangle, it has about 5 meters of damage that will sever targets. However, when we add Whirling Maelstrom into the mix, you amp this perk to the max. See now, when you throw a tangle, it will still deal that initial 5-meter burst of damage, but afterwards it will turn into a beyblade. This Spinning ball of death will seek out the nearest enemy, dealing damage and unraveling them. These spinning green balls will last for 12 seconds and the important thing to note is that when paired with Vile Weave, this now means any enemies hit will also be severed. This gives you an easy way to passively make enemies deal less outgoing damage.

The best part is we can then pair this with To Shreds so that when we kill severed targets, you will create a strand hotspot that will grant woven mail to you and nearby allies. This is huge because in most content, these beyblades will easily kill targets that they sever to passively create these hotspots for you, granting you and your team woven mail.

But this goes even further when we also bring Disruptor Spike. That way, Severed targets will deal 52% less damage instead of the normal 40%. Between these severed targets and constant woven mail, you will be taking 74% less damage. Remember, this is incredibly easy to keep up because all you have to do is throw a tangle…

So this part covers our survivability and passive Strand debuffs. The other big part of this build is from our exotic of choice. Since most of our passive damage and buffs come from just throwing a tangle, I thought it would only be right to bring a weapon-based exotic. That’s why I landed on the new and improved Sealed Ahamkara Grasps. This season, they got a rework, so now we can get a powered melee kill or finisher to be granted 7 seconds of Nightmare fuel. Nightmare fuel will give all of our weapons 35% more damage and can stack with weapon surge. It is important to note that your first weapon kill while nightmare fuel is active will refresh its buff, then if you switch weapons while it’s active, it will refresh its buff again. Any time you gain Nightmare fuel, all stowed weapons magazines are refilled from reserves. Meaning that if you keep scoring 1 kill with each weapon and swapping, you’ll constantly have an extra 35% weapon damage and never have to reload.

Gameplay Loop

The main thing to keep in mind is that anytime you see a tangle your main option is to pick it up and throw it, however if it is far away, you can shoot it to still create that green ball of death. Otherwise, you want to start by getting a melee kill or finisher. I tend to weaken an enemy to then throw my threaded spike to guarantee the kill. This will proc Nightmare fuel for the 35% weapon damage, but will also create an orb which can be picked up for woven mail and weapon surge. Once you have Nightmare fuel started, it’s a constant cycle of getting at least 1 kill and swapping to another weapon before your timer runs out. That’s why I’m bringing 3 really strong weapons. See normally you want to save all your heavy for boss DPS. However with this build, all 3 weapons are viable. That’s because I love bringing Lord of wolves. This “Shotgun” absolutely cooks bosses and when you proc nightmare fuel with 2 weapon surges, you can put out 58% more damage with it.
