How It Works

NOTE: As of publishing, the Ionic Sentry aspect and Heresy seasonal artifact perks are not available to select for this page. Read the detailed sections below for the full build.

This pure Arc build decimates low to mid-level content with Arc damage flying in every direction. In this build, we're going to focus on creating as many Ionic Traces as possible to keep our abilities up and ready to spam all while stacking and unleashing Bolt Charge lightning strikes all over the place. We can also use the new Ionic Sentry aspect and the Heresy Seasonal Artifact to create even more synergy on a 100% Arc focused build.

The gameplay loop is very simple here: 1. Get kills with Arc weapons and Arc abilities to charge your Ionic Sentry (Arc turret), stack Bolt Charges, create a constant flow of Ionic Traces, and charge your Chaos Reach super ability. 2. Deploy your Ionic Sentry when available to Blind enemies in the immediate vicinity as well as deal additional damage. 3. Cast Chaos Reach when available to melt absolutely anything in your way. 4. Repeat.

This is more of a playstyle than it is a gameplay loop. This is a run-and-gun type of build. Your priority most of the time will be groups of adds and red bars. With this build, you're going to create Ionic Traces and stack Bolt Charge on kills, which means you need to be getting final blows as often as you can with your Arc weapons and abilities. Don't be afraid to spam your abilities, as they should come back very quickly with all of the Ionic Traces that you're going to be creating.

When your Ionic Sentry is available, throw it in close proximity of as many enemies as possible and it will Blind those enemies and stop them from firing at you before it starts to take them out with Arc shots. Wipe up any enemies that are left to create more Ionic Traces.

As you're playing, you'll see the Ionic Traces traveling across the ground and tracking back to you. Most of the time they should just make it back to you without issue. If you play this build enough, it will become second nature to collect them. It should be rare that you don't collect one because you've run away or are positioned somewhere that it can't get back to you.

Throughout all of this, you'll be stacking Bolt Charge up to max stacks before it fires. Bolt Charge is going to add extra damage when it fires, but you don't even need to think about this as you're playing. There's nothing that you will specifically need to remember to do to either stack Bolt Charge or unleash the lightning that it offers at max stacks. It will just happen throughout your gameplay as you use your Arc weapons and abilities.

When you encounter bosses, mini-bosses, or just other high-health targets, you should either already have Chaos Reach or be able to get it back quickly by mopping up some adds. Chaos Reach should impress you with the amount of damage that it can deal. If that's not enough to take care of the target, then you can also hit them with a grenade, powered melee, and even your Arc heavy weapon. Just remember to swap your focus to adds and trash mobs when you need to recharge your super and other abilities. If you're out of ability energy, it means you're not getting kills, even if you're dealing damage.

When you're in a health-emergency, throw down your rift, collect orbs, or use your finisher. These are all ways that you can gain health back. Sprinkle these actions throughout your gameplay and hopefully you'll never hit a health emergency.

I strongly recommend reading through all of the sections below to fully understand how this build comes together.
